is that car painted black everywhere below the beltline???

probably not hard to repaint to individual tastes.

Its a two tone paint

.. the color below the beltline is a darker blue/gray, but not black. I have more pictures, but when I size them to fit under the fastlane limit they do not look right. It would be better to email them. I'm still tryiong to figure out my camera and software to get reasonable quality in a 65 kB image.

I believe there never was a domestic (usa) version of the 500SL for the usa market. and with the top off the 560SL is a great ride for me.... and being in florida with two other MB's I may be interested.

limited slip differential

. on this car is correct. I replaced the left rear CV axle and confirmed that rotating the wheel on one side causes the wheel on the other side to rotate in the same direction.

tom dubya is right...

The R129 500SL (starting in 90 or 91?) was available to us in the USA- the R107 500 SL was never sold direct to the US market.

Did you know..

that the R107 500 SL, because of the higher compression in Euro cars, has 240 bhp - brake horsepower. Higher than the US 560 SL (227 bhp). This car has the most kick of any of the 107 series.

Lowered price to $5,000 obo

.. because it would easier to move while the registration is still current. I've changed the details in the opening post if interested.

let me get this straight...I'm fuzzy and looking for a reason to kick myself...
Your asking price was $5k, and you lowered it by 2K, or you lowered it to 2k...
or it was 7k, and you lowered it by 2k to 5k ?
If you are asking $3k or less for this car, I am gonna kick myself for not putting my life on hold to fly out and buy it.

If you are asking $5K, It is still a deal, and If I lived on that side of the country...perhaps I need to be more focused on buying an SL...

Its a cool car, and can use the Bump anyway =)

$5,000 or best offer

We are asking $5 K or best offer. If you'd like to offer less than $ 5 K, please do. We do not want to have the car sitting in our driveway with an expired registration for long.

Pretty car

I live in Texas. Would you like to trade for a 1987 300SDL that I bought last summer when my 16V "choked"? The SDL is a super cruiser that I brought back to mechanical excellence. Much more saleable in the CA police state.
