FS: 1981 300TD turbo in NorCal
Well, life is full of changes, and it's time to sell my wagon.
1981 Mercedes 300TD turbo Orient red with palomino MB-Tex interior. Lifelong California car with NO RUST. Never wrecked. All panels are straight. Original paint still shines -- not perfect but very presentable. Interior is perfect except for a small area worn through on the bottom corner of the driver’s seatback. Car comes with rare factory cargo cover/divider. Manual sunroof. Alpine AM/FM/CD with Polk Audio speakers. Heat is toasty, AC blows cold. Receipts for all repairs over the past 18 months. Car has 178,000 miles (17,000 by me in past 18 months). Recent service includes the following: --Valve adjustment --New coolant, transmission fluid, self-leveling fluid. --New Bilstein shocks in front and swaybar links in back. --Brakes recently serviced with new fluid, resurfaced rotors and high-performance Porterfield R4-S brake pads all around. Car stops confidently with no noise or fade. --New belts and hoses, including oil cooler lines. --New monovalve (heater control). --New motor mounts. --New vacuum pump. --New (rebuilt) injectors. --New glow plugs. --New battery. --New tires. Other stuff: Hella H4 headlights. Factory air cleaner replaced with K&N cone filter for ease of maintenance (original air filter included). Rear muffler replaced with straight pipe after it rusted out. Adjustable boost controller has restored boost to factory spec (~13 psi). Extra gauges added in place of factory ashtray: VDO boost gauge, voltmeter (original ashtray included). Cooling fan upgraded to later-style 9-blade plastic fan. Auxiliary electric fan wired to run whenever AC is on. Noteworthy issues: Gears on front passenger window are partially stripped, so it skips, but all other power windows work. Power door locks don’t work. Vent selection on climate control does not work (you can’t change where the air blows). Rear self-leveling system works, but usually sags overnight (control valve leaks; rebuild kit included with car). Like all old Mercedes diesels, it leaks oil, but not more than a few drips overnight. Small crack in right taillight. Overall the car runs and looks great and can be driven anywhere. This is definitely one of the nicest 300TD’s left around and turns heads wherever it goes. $5,400. Located in Sacramento, Calif. Here's a photo (more available on request): http://static.flickr.com/3/5822888_fa14f59366_o.gif Reply here or send me a PM if interested.
