1982 WVO 300D For Sale!

Hey everybody,

Take a look! http://www.190revolution.net/MBZ/

I have a 300D Turbo Diesel for sale. I bought it about a year and a half ago with, supposedly, 100,000 original miles from Wild Rose Motors in LA. It was supposed to be perfect, and it certainly looked perfect... but I started getting suspicious right away.

I have come to believe that the vehicle has odometer fraud for a number of reasons. It came with a rebuilt tranny reciept, and I just think having a tranny rebuilt before 100K is a little bizzare. Also, it has a mis colored instrument needle and incorrectly installed cluster. It makes me think someone was in there at one point. It has 125,000 miles on the clock, but I am not going to make any speculation on how many miles it actually has.

Now before we get into the bad stuff, lets talk about the good!

It has brand new Bilstein HD shocks on all four corners. New rotors and pads on the front, and new pads and rotors for the rear NIB in the trunk. It has a WVO conversion kit from Greasel which I installed myself. I did a good job, and it has the medium sized filter (90), and buttons installed in the dash to control it. It has nearly brand new Yokohama Avid T4 tires. Also, brand new head gasket, radiator, oil pan & gasket, maybe a water filter, and a rebuilt tranny. New battery. It has a great stereo: Sanyo Headunit (it has a CD stuck in it, but I bet that can be fixed), oversize Infinity Kappa speakers, a sweet Lanzar Amp and JL sub in the trunk. Awesome!

Now for the bad. I am going to be shockingly honest. I was told AFTER the head was off and replaced that it has excessive timing chain stretch and so the IP has been set to compensate for that. The flip side, the motor has great compression and supposedly looks good on the inside! It runs hot though, 100C, and that has never been figured out. And no, its not the thermostat.

It pisses a bit of oil. Like, it leaves a 5" puddle of oil on the ground if it is parked over night. I think it might be more than one leak, possible rear main seal, but it could be running down the block from the turbo oil return hose. Can't be sure. I fabricated a sweet plastic tub cut to clear all obstables and fastened with zip ties to the under side of the motor. It is coated with an oil absorbent clothe. Not a drop of oil on the ground now.

The paint is pretty nice and shiney, except that one whole side, the roof and hood are covered with hundreds of thousands of miniature rust spots. They are probably little tiny pieces of steel that flew off something I was grinding and struck the car, burned into the paint and oxidized. I suppose it is possible that the spots are actual holes in the paint and the oxidation is from the base metal, but I really don't think so. It is not THAT noticible from 15 feet away, but I bet it could be fixed up with a clay and polish. I dropped a piece of ply wood on the hood star and it is broken. The right blinker lens is broken when I bumped it into something.

Also, there are some elecrical problems right now -- none of the electrical accessories in the instrument cluster work, including the blinkers. The windows don't roll up and down anymore except the drivers because the gear system broke and it can be pulled up and down by hand. Both the door panels are off. I took the driver's off to fix the window, realized it was a complicated mechanism, so I removed the passenger's panel to see how it worked. Once I figured it out, I realized it would be way too hard to fix and gave up. I have them both with most all of the fasteners and they are in good shape.

The interior just slightly ratty, but could be cleaned up alright I bet. Has some tears in various places, including a big 4" gash in the headliner. Some expanded gorrilla glue is hanging out the glove box wood trim. The rear seats are a little smooshed because I carried 1500 pounds of concrete in the back once.

Despite all of these awesome problems, it is my daily driver and runs great. It starts on first crank and handles great. It has been the best POS work truck I ever had. The car is in Santa Cruz California. I will help ship or drive it to destination possibly. Comes with a sixth month bumper to bumper warranty. Just kidding... sold as is. Make offers!

Will trade for metal working and ceramics tools: presses, lathes, mills, forges, wheels, kilns, whatver, etc.

I will take questions here.
