I've had this SL approximately 1 year but I own 3 of them and can no longer keep it in my garage so I need to sell one. I ran the VIN # at a local dealer in Van Nuys prior to purchasing the vehicle and received a print-out of the history of this car while still in it's warrenty period. I was informed that based on it's service record it had no warrenty work on it and was clean as a whistle! It only has 49,000 miles on it & drives and looks NEW. Of the three I own, a '90, '92 and this '96, this one is by far the best! You can research the SL history and see the 3 best years for the SL was 1996-1999.This car was a stolen recovery and purchased from the Insurance Company. I don't believe it was ever in an accident, but it does carry a "salvage title". You are welcome to have the car checked by your mechanic and I am sure this car will be highly recommmended at this price. The soft top is in good condition, and I will have a new one put on if the buyer wants. I will reduce the price $500.00 if you do not want the new softtop. Otherwise the price is firm. It is loaded with Chrome rims, 6CD changer, etc. The interior is in perfect condition and the body is in excellent shape. This car was close to $100 Grand NEW and is a great deal for a 1996 500SL.( especially with the VERY low miles it has). Blue Book for this car with the LOW miles and it's condition is: $25-30,000.
