A model of your new car?

Hey congratulations, Will

So you did it!!! I remember this was the privately owned 1992 one with about 130K but with records you checked out a few weeks ago, and now it's yours. Thank you very much for sharing the CARFAX with all those who asked you.

There is a German model company who built a 1/24" scale model of the 1992 Mercedes V12 S600.

I got one at the Mercedes dealer in Buena Park where I bought my car, 10 years ago.

They aren't at the dealers anymore, but sometimes they come up for sale on ebay Germany. I had a black one, but gave it away to a friend and found a white one (same color as yours) on ebay Germany. They are metal, very detailed, and the white one comes with a gray interior. The front doors, hood and trunk open so you can see the details inside and the front wheels also steer. It has the stock wheels and the white one has gray lower panels

To check for them, click www.ebay.de, go to modellbau, then modellautos, then click Schabak for the listings.

Right now, here a couple:

Silver one: auction no. 180054417012 (no bids yet)

the black one: auction no. 150063085792 (one bid at 15 euros)

Currency converter: www.xe.com

Schabak also made them in smaller models too, but they are smaller 1/43" and I don't know much about them, might be plastic, but here some pictures of them on www.ebay.de auctions now

Silver one: aucution #320032885012

Silver one: auction # 170045876660

brown one auction # 170046731298

metallic red one auction # 320043603093

Here is a black one in metal, from Herpa that looks nice too.
auction # 190059879907

I've bought several models from ebay Germany, most sellers speak good English, are fair, pack well, and shop quickly! It's cool to get something from there that is hard to find here. I always asked questions about if they sopke English, would they take US$ sent by mail or paypal, how much shipping was, by air or ground, cost of insurance, before I put in a bid. Everything always worked out well.

Didn't know if you'd be interested in something like this, but thought you'd like to know there was a good model made of your car in the color you have - hard to find, but from time to time they are out there

Also, for more help for questions. there is www.benzworld.com forum with a special section for S class W140 1991-1999 as a place for more questions and information about these cars including the 600SEL like yours

Hope some of this is of interest to you.

You will love driving that car, I am sure. I hope it treats you well.

Jim

Thumbs up I have a 94 S600 and LOVE it !!!

This car is AMAZING. It is truly a staple of MB engineering. I do alot of the work myself and yes it does save me a bit of money. ALOT of MB freeks like to bash it ! I beg you to drive it and then drive ANY other sedan and i promice you that NOTHING will even come close as far as a GREAT ride and a sh_t load of power. In my opinion this car is GREAT. I wouldnt sell mine for 40,000. I mean hell, what r u going to upgrade to a frikkin Bentley???

Thanks guys, its weird cuz im really starting to realize the fact that I own a mercedes, I really never thought I would. Its strange to say now, Im going to check out those model cars for the s 600 it would be cool to have and thanks for the link.

Man theres SUCH a difference between the 600 and the 400 I test drove. the 600 is pretty damn responsive and gets up and goes. I was very surprised on the difference. Theres SOOO many more options on the 600 rather then the 400 as well.

Im happy to own it and I'm sure I will be here a lot more now.

Very Handsome Car, looks awesome.

Do you know when and/or why was the car repainted? Are all the panels/trunk lid/hood/bumpers original? I see it has 95 style tail lights too.

The lower cladding is gray form the factory in 1992. It's my understanding it requires a new trunk lid (or at least modification of the edges to install 95+ tail lights),you can look at the vin# sticker's on the trunk lid as well as all the other body panels and bumpers to see if they match or have been replaced. Also, the V12 emblems are not located in the factory location. I have never seen them come off or wear off, so at sompoint they were removed and that is usually to repaint

perhaps you are mistaken?

I just stumbled accross this thread.

My 1994 S500 has the original cluster. No one has altered the odo. If they did why in the world would the car have 130k on it?

300SDL guy is just sensitive to this subject (if memory serves, he bought a TMU 300SDL on ebay a few years ago from a bunch of bad guys).

1994's and some 1993 W140's had digitial clusters. The motherboards on the VDO's from 1992 were bad, and VDO issued a new motherboard / cluster to replace the failed units from 1992. Even though the old units appeared analog they were infact digitial units with analog displays.

My car was one owner until this year and was only serviced by the MB dealership here.It hasn't been monkeyed with. The carfax clearly shows that the mileage is correct and documented, and I have the records on hand since new to prove it.

Go back on ebay and look at t he other 1994 S class cars, you will see that they have digitial odometers. My 1994 s600 has a digitial odo too, as does my 1994 SL600. I think it has to do with the production run.

take a look at this one

1994 S420 on ebay
