2 quick questions (alarm) 92 s 600 (plllllease help!!!!)

I was sitting in my car today and all of a suden when I went to start the car the car alarm sounded( I was unaware that I had a sounding alarm?) I knew i had the little red light come on when I used the key to lock the doors, but I didnt know I had the sounding alarm. HOw do I set that alarm and how do I use it? Because when I lock the door with the key and it turns red i try to open the doors but no sounding alarm goes off. But when I was sitting in the car and tried to start the car ( I think the locks were red when I did that) the alarm sounded.

Any Idea on this?

Also I know on my model i can hit the red light and hold the key down and the windows wil automatically roll up or roll down when I make the locks green. But I cant figure out how to do it everytime? What specifically do I have to do to have it work?

Thanks in advance.

why don't you read the owner's manual...if you don't have one a dealer or MBUSA will get you one, I don't even think they charge for them usually but I could be wrong about that.

There will probably be other issues you'll have questions on that can be answered that way too. If there's a functional problem with your car people here are happy to help but since you don't even know if your alarm is working right or not it's probably best to figure that out first.

If its the factory alarm it will be explained in the manual and you will know whether it is working correctly or not. If it is an aftermarket alarm then you'll probably be out of luck anyway. In any case, as a prior respondent had informed you the best place to ask tech questions is on the tech board not on the for sale board.

Hey guys I figured it out. Its the factory alarm I was under the impression if people touched it it would go off, but it seems like it only goes off if someone gets into the car and tries to start it or something.

But I still dont understand how to use the windows when outside the car.

Just a personal FYI.

You are posting in the wrong forum, rule #2.
This should be in Tech Help.

No harm, no foul, I just wanted to alert you.

Compulsory Rules

Transgressions here may result in banning.

1. Use descriptive subject lines and research your post. This reduces the chances of double-posting, and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts.

2. Post in the right forum! If it's about a diesel Mercedes, post it in the Diesel Discussion forum. Even if it's only humor, an observation, or angst, if it's about something that we have a forum for, post it there.

3. Restrict the use of excessive foul language in posts. Family members of all ages may be viewing this forum.

4. No blatantly juvenile toilet humor. Moderator's judgment applies here.
