Hey everyone: I responded to a CL ad and this was his reply. Really hits the greed button. Anyone interested?

I'm sorry for the late reply, i was out of town with business. I
received your email regarding my car. The car is in perfect condition, with
no scratches or damage on it. My bottom dollar is $2,900 and shipping
charges are included. The car had to be a present for my brother as he
loves this very much, but he did not enjoy it as he died in an accident 1
week ago. It brings very bad memories for me, so here it is, I want to
get rid of it as my mother also cannot stand looking at it. All the
manuals and the original documents are included. You will receive this
along with all the papers and receipts that you need to register it in
your name. I'm located in Dallas TX. The car will be shipped from here.
Shipping will be done via UPS second day air freight and it will take no
more then 2 days. I have a friend at UPS who will manage me a low price
shipping and I will pay the shipping charges. When I will ship it, I
will declare it as a gift so the car can be delivered directly to your
address.
The most important thing is that I am affiliated to UPS, I have a UPS
purchase protection account for $5,000 and I assume you know what this
means.
The financial part of this deal will be manage by them. In case you do
not like the car or you are not satisfied, you have 5 days from
reception date to request a refund and they will refund your money. You can
also return the car free of charge in 5 days from reception date if it's
not in the stated condition or if you're not satisfied, but that won't
be our case.
Anyway, I have to let you know that I want a fast deal so if you are
really interested in buying the car, please reply with the following info
so i can pay the shipping charges and open a case with UPS:

- Your full name
- Your shipping address

Someone else was corresponding with someone that was pulling the same scam. Was it a 300D wagon? I think that's what the other post was regarding. Obviously a scam.

Ask him to throw his brothers dead body in the trunk so you know this a legitimate transaction and that you know he is not trying to pull one over on you.

I told his to send it on. His reply.

Ok, i received the info. I will go at the local ups drop point to pay the
shipping charges and make all the arrangements around 8 pm when i leave work.
They should send you an invoice tonight and if possible shipping will be
scheduled for tomorrow. Please check your email for the UPS invoice tonight or
tomorrow morning and confirm when you receive it. I'll confirm that i've paid
the charges etc. when i get home tonight.

So, He's in Dallas huh??? Was this a 90 300D wagon? There's been one on CL here relisted every day for the last month it seems...

The brothers obituary should be easy enough to find.

Nice car silver and clean. I'm interested in what the invoice will look like when "UPS" sends it. If you've seen that fake scam that they do with PayPal it is pretty scary what these guys come up with. I wished I could forward these emails to a FBI office or something. I can't get a reply from UPS--I guess they are too busy making tons of money. ernie

no, a '97 e300td

E300 TD is 98-99 and no such thing as a 97 e300 turbo diesel

as far as I am aware...

I forwarded all of the emails to the email address. I may have misspoken when I said 1997 turbo diesel--he may have not listed it as a turbo. It was a sweet looking 210 chassis diesel car. I would love to buy it at a fair price with a honest seller. Ernie

Too many wierd things right out of the gate - a normal seller would never have a story and a reason for everything being haywire.

If you don't sign for it, will UPS leave it by the back door?
