possibly repairable 93 300SD in San Jose area - $1500

Story and pics in this thread -

facelifted 140

$1500 is the total loss vs buy back spread so it's available WITH A SALVAGE TITLE for $1500 if you're a daring soul. I don't profit from this arrangement.

It has a 3 liter block in place of the questionable 3.5.

I AM NOT PARTING OUT THE CAR. You have to take the car if you want any parts.

I need my driveway back soon so the offer won't last... not that it's a particularly good offer :/

PM or email with questions.

Check your PMs

Sixto,

I'm very interested for that price. I checked on shipping and the costs will work out. Let me know when you decide.

What does the salvage repair estimate paper say for total repair cost?

Could you also tell me how many mpg that car would get?

Any more pictures of the rest of the car?

Thanks.

$9613.68 in parts
$3400.00 in labor
$324.72 in additional costs

It was getting 24 mpg city with the 3.0 block. Not enough highway miles for a proper measurement but I'm guessing 26 mpg with a heavy foot.

Car was towed away on the 4th.

I dont know how the insurance laws are in your state but in Illinois they legally cant make you salvage title it if you buy it back if its over 8 years old. They tried to pull the same deal on my girlfriend when a guy rear ended her car, had to threaten them a bit but got the car, the money, and no salvage title so it may be worth looking into .

Very difficult to skirt salvage title in California. A friend of mine is getting a settlement since it was determined that his oil pump 'accidentally' ingested a vacumm pump bearing. The value of an engine rebuild exceeds the value of his SDL so he has to file a total loss statement with the DMV, which will result in a salvage title, before he can get the settlement, even if there is no structural damage to the car, nor compromise to safety systems. His only recourse is to sue to avoid the salvage title.

Frankly, I'd like to see SALVAGE etched along with each VIN stamping in my former SD. It's just not cost effective to get it back to proper condition but quite easy to get it to pass basic brakes and lights inspection.
