Selling friend's 82 240D Manual - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

My friend is trying to get rid of his 82 240D 4spd manual, just replaced it with a 97 E300D. It is located in Austin, TX. He is not the original owner but has owned it for the last 15+ yrs. The vehicle has 213K and is a daily driver. The paint is faded and the interior has some cracks. It has a new exhaust, tires, and tune up. The a/c does not work, needs a compressor. It had the RR door and quarter replaced when someone ran into him many years ago.

I will post picks as soon as I get them from him. He is not sure what to ask for it as right now it sits taking up space under the carport. Make an offer......$1K??

Guys,

The owner wanted me to make the following correction to the ad after I let him review it:

"It is an 83 240D and not an 82. It was a daily driver until about 4 months ago. It has been sitting since then. The performance is very very sluggish, the clutch is slipping, the hood has wrinkles, etc. The passenger door was not replaced after an accident, the bodywork is coming apart. The driver side rear window does not go up or down. The window tinting is delaminating and bubbling on all of the windows. I would call it an extreme restoration, or a very good parts car" Those are his exact words.....

All I have is what's posted on the link. I'll stop by his house tomorrow and get some more pics and add them to the link.

He is motivated to get rid of it soon or it will be donated for the tax write off.

when he says sluggish, does he mean there is something wrong with the engine, or the car is sluggish because the clutch is slipping?

I'd have to ask him again, but I think it is because of the clutch. At least that is the last thing he was complaining about.

The car is still available if anyone is interested. You can talk to the owner directly by calling him at 512-468-1992 and ask for Lou but call after 5pm as he works nights.
