WTB: well maintained 123 diesel in MD

I am looking for a 300d 300cd or 300dt from the early eighties. I have been looking for a car since april and have finally narrowed it down to these cars, for their durability, good mileage, helpful enthusiast culture, and classic looks, so am in no hurry to buy. Happy to keep riding my motorcycle until the right one comes my way- or the weather in B-more gets below 40F. That should give me a few more months either way.

i live in maryland but would travel for a good example that is being offered by a respected member of these forums. No rust and a maintenance history that shows love are very important to me and will be happily paid the extra dough for. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so i want a starting point that will reward regular maintenance and attention, not an uphill battle that ends in debt and disappointment. Can you help? Know someone who can?
any lead appreciated

I wish I would have articulated that thought before I met my first wife.

Good luck with the search!

if only it were that easy bruce
i was lucky to have a good woman find me and stick with me for the past six years, because i wouldnt have been able to articulate that either. but it doesnt look like a similarly well cared for and stable 123 is going to do that for me, so here i am asearchin and articulatin. thanks for the well wishing and levity.

hey don't forget to come out to the area events when we hold them! I am selling my CD but its had rust repaired. The wagon you asked about looks like it's still available if you're interested in it.

john-
sorry to hear your ebuyer was another eDeadbeat... can you send me more info on the cd? pics? if the rust was repaired well, and doesnt indicate imminent chassis, exhaust or other rust, its no deal breaker. as for th e wagon, i was just surprised that after all of that, seemingly painstaking, work you did to it, it only fetched what it did. i wasnt trying to buy it though. i am definately loooking for a survivor/workhorse without oil leaks. even if the paint job is a little faded. you have a grade-a babe-wagon there and someone else should be paying you top dollar.
maybe the leaks are not as big an issue as it seemed to me, (my last car (83 el camino) leaked like a sive but ran strong for 8 years before i got red light run into in april.) but this time i am trying to start clean, if not fresh.

and yes 92300se, i have my eye on it, but suspect it will be bid into the stratosphere before i have a chance to win the lottery.

thanks for all help- you guys are part of the reason i am looking to own one of these beasts.

such a nice looking wagon, low price for ebay too.

I might have tried, gotta get rid of my element first... (though the price is getting down to the point I won't have any extra $$ left to buy something else.)

I have a decent one

Max, I have a decent one that I have had for 2 years. 84 300 cd silver/black. Strong engine, replaced tranny, all front end parts, radiator, new tires, shocks, wheel bearings, ball joints, replaced steering box, new radio, antennae, window tracks cleaned, lubed, sun roof works, cruise works, one tear in driver's seat, dash has cracks, needs front windshield, rear window moulding, all vacuum issues fixed. It is rust free. I painted it in my shop, not a good job. A/C is next to fix and axle boots after that. I have 4800 in it now. PM me if interested, or call 352 478 5577. I spend too much time on my other 300 sd's and my 3 67 GTO's. Haven't ridden the Harley in 2 months. This is a spare car. Thanks, Bill. Very similar to Johnhef's car.
