I'd agree.

The money would be right if the car had 25,000 miles, not 100,000 miles.

So how much is 75,000 miles worth?

OK,,, I'll drop the price a couple grand,,,

Start at 8K BIN @ 14K

Am I getting closer?

Too expensive

Especially since, regardless of miles, the car is 25 years old and may need work on the suspension, for example, even if it appears to be good. It would be a shame to pay $10K+ for this car and then have to sink another $2-4K in repairs. An independent evaluation by a trusted mechanic would be essential at this price.

my experience on my various vehicle discussion boards is that the members are usually CHEAP. (I cheerfully include myself in this generalization.)

Let her ride on da bay and see what happens.

Yeah, I don't think many here are likely to overpay for a car. I think E Bay is more likely to net you a high price like that than this site would. Good luck!

Mespe, I don't think you're asking too much. I just sold a one-owner 1984 300D with 113k miles for $10,750 on ebay. It was a beautiful car - the best w123 I've ever owned and it needed nothing.

The way to sell a good car on ebay is to have an excellent description (you do), excellent photos (you do), and start the bidding low to generate interest and get a lot of watchers, don't use a BIN that tips your hand to what you think it's worth but do use a "reasonable" reserve that'll likely be met, and end the auction on a Sunday evening about 10p EST. Make sure you answer every question with diplomacy and honesty - even the stupid, insulting questions.

I think you'll get the $8,000 bid, and you might get up to $10,000, but you probably should have started lower and let the bidding build. Run the auction out and see - if it doesn't sell, then try again with a lower start.

I think $8k is a little much. It is my experience that the 300D's at this mileage/condition are going to bring more money than the SD's. Not sure why. I sold an SD on ebay that could easily have given this one a run for it's money for $5k.

What are your guy's thought on this.
The owner wants me to drop the start bid to like $100 at which point it'll generate alot of interest from buyers who can't afford this type car. Also I think it'll "cheapen" the car, this car is really nice,,,,

Ding ding ding ding! Winner..that's the way. I must remind myself about answering stupid questions, though, or responding kindly to offers of $1500 on a car that's listed at $17K! Gotta love ebay.

It doesn't "cheapen" the car, it drives activity...no pun intended Control the selling price via a reserve price.

I think Dee8go is on the money. Let the thing ride on eBay ( no pun intended ) for a week and see what happens. You might end up hitting somebody right between the eyes and sell the car for what you need. If it doesn't work, there's always next week to re-list. I strongly believe eBay is your best venue for maximizing your $ on a beast of this nature. It falls under the "more balls than brains" theory

Good luck!

I dunno, Mercedes Enthusiasts in this forum are like any other enthusiast in that if they want a specific car for a specific amount of quickly-sinking US Dollars, they will pay the amount they are willing.

This car is listed worldwide, the lower the dollar goes, the cheaper it is for someone across the world to buy a Mercedes US version Sedan.

What I'm getting at is the starting bid was 5634 Euros when listed and is now already down to 5555 euros. By the end of the auction I wouldn't doubt if the starting bid was approaching 5333 euros,,,

I would suggest doing what the owner wants you to do and drop the bid down. You can always pull before it ends if it does not get to what you consider it should be worth.
