I'm offering up my 1986 Mercedes Benz 300E with a 5-Speed manual transmission for $3,500 or best offer.

It's been owned by MercedesShop Forum members for the last 7 years.

I hate to sell it but a special 190E 16 Valve that I've had my eye on for a number of years has become available and I have to sell this car to get that one.

These manual transmission cars were only imported to the US in 1986 (700 cars) and 1988 (300 cars). They are rare to find and a blast to drive.

The car is ice blue with dark blue MB tex interior. The 3.0 Liter M103 engine has 240K miles on it and is still reliable enough for you to drive it cross country.

Some of the upgrades installed on the car are:

16" CLK wheels (lightest 16" MB wheels available at 16lbs each)
- Also have matching 16" spare in the trunk -
Bosch Euro Headlights and clear corner lights
Very nice wood shift knob with MB Logo
Kenwood CD player (Mercedes tape deck available)
A/C Converted to R134 (Blows nice and cold)

Has it been repainted, or is it just light playing tricks? The front looks slightly darker.

That's just light playing tricks. It has the original paint job.

I'd be very tempted by this one if I lived closer - too bad!

Still , can you post some interior photos too? Maybe I will still be tempted.

Also included with the car is a Mercedes Benz High Mileage Award and Grill Badge.

Owned by forum members last 7 yrs means there was maintence done, and hopefully some records of this.

Can you detail how this has been kept up? And anything it may need now or any upcoming preventative?

The MercedesShop members who have had the honor of owning this car are Chuck Taylor (moderator of the Vintage forum), Jim Freeh (MBCA of VA officer) and myself. It has been well taken care of and doesn't have any immediate needs.

looks like someone swapped the drivers seat with the passenger side. The passenger seat appears to have the characteristic wear that the drivers side always gets.

Sounds too good for me. BUt it would have been nice if you would have known some of the maintenence that had been done at least the time you had the honor of owning the car...........

Those 16 valves you are lusting after quite honestly is double what you really need.

I took this car to the Mercedes Club Track Event in September and it handled great! I'll post a picture or two of the car on the autocross in the next few days.
