I fear for my life around here while I feel fine in NJ, NY and even in Dallas! Only other place I feel real fear in LA where they do the patented 'LA SWOOP' you know cut across 8 lanes of freeway in a diagonal line to get on or off! My friend who lives here actually closes his eyes when he does it!

As for where I got run off the road, it was not where the thrid lane merges in, but further up the road. The guy just had to get out of the right lane right NOW! Self preservation instincts kicked in and I wrenched the wheel to the left and on to the shoulder. I should have let him hit me!

I got side swiped on the Beltway going to work one morining about twenty years ago. Then the guy sped away and there was a state trooper right next to me. He did nothing. I had to practically beg the county police to arrest the guy after I reported it and gave them his tag number and description of his car. When they went to his office, they called me and tried to talk me out of pressing charges! Unbelieveable.

G Gordon Liddy used to refer to the Beltway as the "Eight Lane Death Strip." I always laughed at that, but it's not too far off.
