I sold my 1983 300CD (signal red 514k miles on it) for $6500, but it needed nothing mechanically, and had a lot of mods.

I understand that and if it were mine I'd be keeping it too!

The point is if an owner intended to actually sell their item, they should include all the relevant information they possibly could in their earliest marketing effort. That would include a price or at least a suggested bidding starting point.
