1974 Mercedes 230 (W115) $3,600

I have the Clean California Title in hand and this car is smog exempt.

VIN 11501712024486

4 cylinder gas engine with automatic transmission. This car does have a/c, but it is not working and manual wind windows.

This car is very clean and will not disapoint in person. I will include a box of spare parts and the NAM front and rear lights. All door and trunk seals have been recently replaced, tinted windows, and I purchased brand new MBZ floormats for the car. I replaced the brake master cylinder reservoir, brake vacuum booster hose, window washer bottle and associated lines. Paint looks to be original and I see no evidence of prior accidents or rust. This car is a California car and even has the original CA blue license plates.

Odometer reads 96,000 and it does work, but the car probably has 196,000?

This car starts right up and runs well. Car is located in Lake Forest, California

$3,600.00

That's a very nice looking W115. Those taillights are from a pre-74 though. I love the euro headlights...lucky for me you are 3000 miles from here or I'd probably have to see that one in person and drive it home...but its a heck of a drive from SOCAL to NH.

Do you know what's wrong with the A/C?
Is that a 250K Km badge on the grille?
What condition is the motor in? ie does it blow smoke etc?
Will it pass emissions if it were taken thru do you think? I know it's smog exempt in CA but not in AZ.

I would have thought they would have but, now, come to think of it I don't think our 240D ever had one and there is none listed on the EPC so I guess they are one of the few models which did not come with one.

The rear headrests are also unusual. I know they weren't standard items but I wonder if they are factory additions or somebody's handywork.

I have the period correct rear lights as well as the NAM front headlights which are included in the sale.

Thanks,

Jeff

The rear headrests were from the from the original front seats that were in the car. I found a pair of better condition front seats and decided I could put the headrests which were in good condition in the back seats. I forgot I did this until I read your post

Also from my understanding, there was no hood pad originally.

The a/c compressor that is in the car is the older piston compressor? Vickers? I know the belt is gone and have not investigated the root problem.

The car runs very nicely and without blowing smoke. The car was a three genration family car until I purchased the car. I have a stack of service records for this car.

I purchased another 16V and plan to take the proceeds of this car to help cover the costs of restoration.

Peter:

The sub box in the trunk is an Xtant 12" woofer that I never wired in, but will include in the sale of the car if necessary

Is that the original motor? Was there not a six in there originally? I though the designation 230 applied only to the holdover M180 powered cars using the six cylinder engine from the fintails. And that when they introduced the four cylinder 230 engine in 73 they designated the two cars 230.4 and 230.6 respectively.
