1983 Merc 300TD Wagon FS
Located in Florence, SC
Its a black beauty, 306,000 miles on it. Runs very clean. Always starts on first crank. Everything works except the AC. Cruise control is a little flaky but I will fix that before I sell. It has the manual sun roof. All power windows work. All wipers (front and rear) work. Washer does not work, but that is a simple fix that I have not got round to. Car has been repainted once so the paint is clean. A few chips on the hood, close to the windscreen. The car has a two tank system installed to enable it to run on SVO and/or biodiesel. I have tried SVO and it runs just fine on SVO, biodiesel or commercial diesel. A few fixes that I have performed on the vehicle are: (i) Turbo drain tube fix (ii) Chased down a few engine oil leaks (iii) New Lower Ball Joints (iv) New AGR and all new Vacuum lines (v) All new fluids, filters etc. (vi) Brakes have been recently replaced and a brand new master brake cylinder installed. (vii) Alignment performed at MIDAS, but car still steers a litte to the left. I think it needs new SLS bladders since the left side sags more than the right. (viii) 1 new glow plug. A few fixes that remain (I will provide all the parts to the new owner to be able to perform these): (i) SLS bladder replacement (Valve and pump work just fine when the car is started, but when off, it sags at the rear) (ii) SVO filter housing leaks (simple gasket replacement) (iii) AC compressor needs replacement. (iv) I have a spare transmission for this car that I bought online for $400. Dont know why I bought it becasue the original works just fine. I will provide the spare tranny to the new owner to do whatever they please with it. The spare has 140,000 miles on it. (v) Engine rev meter is flaky..needs a new amplifier ($20-30) Dash has 8-10 cracks, but can be easily covered with a cap. The AC does not blow cold (see above), but the blower and heat work just fine. The cabin temperature sensor works and all the AC vents are intact. All interior and exterior lights work - except the reverse lights. Stereo cassette works + all speakers and automatic antenna also works. Overall, the car is in good shape given its age. I have driven it every day to work and to my toddler's day care for the last 6-7 months. I would not hesitate driving it long distance. The car cruises at 80-85 mph on the highway and the engine feels quite peppy at speed (my other car is an Acura TL..so I know what 'peppy' means). No overheating at all, the needle stays solid at 80-90 C. Oh and the speedometer and odometer all work. I will post pictures ina couple of days. Meanwhile, if you have questions, pelase email me at: jalalzia@gmail.com |
