Hi,

I am looking to buy a 124 body diesel. 190D's can be included too! I'm in central Illinois and there is definitely a lack of diesels for sale.

I'd like to keep it under $5k, and preferably less than 250k mi although depending on the situation I could let that slide.

A/C working is very important. Also no rust but very very small issues can be fixed.

This is going to be my sole daily driver, so I need something that will be in good running condition, i.e. windows and stuff arent a huge deal if they dont work. As long as I can get from point A to B safely!

Of course I won't mind maintaining it at all, but I can't manage to do any serious work in my current situation.

wanting no rust, and not willing to drive more than 200 miles... You wont get that. You will get rust free- where the rust is for free. =)

I know a few good ones out in the south west, but expect to pay 6k or so.

You probably want to find one that has had the timing chain and injection pump rebuilt at the minimum....or one with less than 130k miles.

if it has about 130-150k miles expect to do a tranny and suspension rebuild if it hasnt had that already.

Look in my sig... my 300D 2.5T is for sale. I'm a little more than 200 miles away though. If you pay for gas (for two cars up one car down) and a hotel I can deliver

If both of the above statements are true you are setting yourself up for a potential disaster.

Unless its a parts car I would NEVER consider buying a 20 year old car without a personal inspection and a test drive.
