W115 diesel...with rust free body (gulp!) Either complete running car, or even just a rust free body. Willing to travel, feeling waters for a price. Currently have a lovely running 76 300D, but with rust issues creeping up.

Email me.

It's really hard to find a 100% rust free W115, just the nature of the steel and methods used in the early 70s made them particularly vulnerable to rust. The one I got recently, which I thought was pretty much rust free has a few little spots and evidence of past repairs. Even if someone tells you a car is rust free it doesn't mean anything...they all have some rust hiding in them, even those from California.

I think if I had a nice running one like you have and the rust wasn't terminal I'd spend some of the money you are planning on spending on another one and just have the rust repaired on yours, as long as it isn't too far gone. You can probably get several more years out of if before having to do more treatment and this way you at least are dealing with the devil you know.

Just my $0.02.

Hmm

There is some rust in the floors, but not severe. Also rear area behind wheel arches is about the same. If I could find someone who I knew would do a good job, hell I'd pay 4K to have the bodywork done properly.

But finding someone to work on these is this difficult part.

That's so common in these and not difficult to fix. I'd bet you could get those areas resolved for under $2K. You just need a good body shop. Spend a day and drive around to a few shops, when you find the right one you will know it. It will be clean, the people will seem genuinely interested in helping you and you will be all set.

I agree with nhdoc. You have a very nice 115 right now, it would be hard to find a better overall one. The right shop will appeciate that and fix it so you'll never see the repairs. Look for one that does restorations. They will be more expensive up front but will know how to do it right. And yes, even desert ones can get some rust and it's hard to find one with a nice interior, they're usually sun cooked. BTDT. Good luck!

I saw a very nice looking black W115 240D parked at the Sunoco service station in McLean, Virginia. Looked straight and clean and like it had new paint.

Kyle, I know your looking for another but if you decide to just fix the rust you have and find a good shop here in S. N.E. let me know. I've want to get my rust taken care of before it gets out of hand.

Yellowbenz (Kevin) posted this one in the "speaking of green" thread:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120276948986&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123

It looks like it's in great condition.
