1987 300D Turbo 9 out of 10 one owner car

I will try and follow the rules in "want to sell your car easily" post.
1)Car is located in Omaha Ne zip code 68123 104000 miles on it
2)I would like to get $12,500 for the car. I might be dreaming, but this would be a dream car for someone. The reason I am selling it is I need the room in the garage for my motorcycle. If I had a three car garage I would never sale. Offers will be considered.
3)Here is the link to some pictures, I will try and add some more. http://picasaweb.google.com/pwagstaff/300d

4) My father in law bought this car while living in Germany new from the factory. I have every single receipt for any work done on the car, except the few things I have done to it since I got it. It has always been stored in the garage and never driven in the snow. No rust on the car at all. It had a new radiator and the fan clutch and blades were replaced. I have pages and pages of the work done on the car. All maintenance has done on schedule.

I have all of the books that came with the car, the tool kit, all keys and the spare key still in plastic, first aid kit is perfect as is the triangle.

I got the car 1 year and 1000 miles ago. After I got the car I have had the following replaced.
1) Tires $650
2) AC charged and it works fine
3) Vacuum pump
4) vacuum lines
5) Oil, air fuel filters. Oil is Mobil one
6) glow plugs all of them
7) flushed and replaced antifreeze
8) The air tube from the valve cover
All parts are high quality.

Everything works on the car except the following two things. Both are easy fixes.
1)The head rest do not go up. The motor works, but suffers from the broken clip that is discussed on this forum
2) The switch that moves the steering wheel in and out. I know it is the switch because the wheel will move when you use the pre-sets. I have never looked into the problem.
3) The antenna did not go down the other day so I oiled it and now it is working.

Extras I have about $150-200 worth of extra filters (fuel, tranny, power steering, air) and parts that will go with the car. I did not want to pay shipping, so every time I would place an order I would by stuff I would use in the future in order to get free shipping.

I don't know if it'll bring your price, but I wish you luck, it is fairly unique with the miles, receipts, one-owner, and leather. Champagne/Palomino is a nice combination also, might be someone.

I am just putting it out there as a starting point. I have no idea what it is worth at this point. I hate to put it on Ebay and have it get in the wrong hands.

Sounds like a nice car but keep in mind you can get a nice E-Class for that price and your car is over 20 years old.

To confirm, yes, you are dreaming at that price point.

Mercedes diesels are working cars, as opposed to emotional cars.
So, the price of an older diesel is always capped by the price of a newer (and arguably better) diesel.

The early nineties 5 cylinder turbo diesels are more economical, have nicer trim, and are selling for less than you are asking. In the same vein, the W210 diesels cap the nineties W124 diesels.

You'll need to undercut the price of an equivalent 90's model to find your market.

Good luck, rest assured, there is a strong market for older MB diesels!

10K OBO

the car I just bought was purchased 2.5 years ago by a friend of mine. He got it at an estate sale for $9800. same miles, same condition.

he then put over 75000 miles on it and sold it to me for $5500. (miles were at 182K at purchase)

he also put some $$ in the car. injectors, vacume pump, shocks, to name a few.

Sweet car. I think it would fetch in the 10k neighborhood. but it will take time. you wont sell it tomorrow. the right buyer will come. people on this site may steer lookers your way. "if you are willing to pay a little more check out this car. . . . "

best of luck
