Exclamation Last chance! Save her from the crusher!

Well desperate times call for desperate measures. My 500SE needs to go ASAP. I'm willing to entertain any reasonable offer. Here is the craigslist ad.

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/811165704.html

I would like to see this car go to someone who cares about these cars and not send it to the crusher but like I said, desperate times call for desperate measures. My cell is 440-714-5480. Call me and we can work something out.

Bad gas right now. We don't need the 4th with only 3 drivers.

Dang it, I really like that car(not the Gold trim). I love the sedan's that have the SEC front end on them. I just wish you were a heck of a lot closer to the left coast. I'd like to see the rust area's you spoke of earlier. It's a shame to crush that one too. I just saved this car from the crusher:

I can't save them all. Someone needs to save this car or at the very least buy it and part it out.

Yes, I was going to part it out but I thought about it and I have no way to get rid or a parted out car.

The rust is right behind the rear drivers door and is in the wheel well. It is NOT structural! Other than a few dents and dings, that is the only spot of rust I have seen. The rest is solid.

I really need this car gone. Like I said, make me an offer if you are interested!

Can someone tellhim how to try to get his car started by using a can of fresh gas and his input fuel line, just like doing a deisel purge. So he can find out if he has bad gas from the car sitting ? Chilcutt

What I did with my M110 to by-pass the old gas when I got it was to closed off the feed line from tank to the damper before the pump. removet that line and I stuck a portion of garden hose on the damper before the pump and dstuck that in a 5 gallon gas tank full of fresh 93 octane gas. Then under the hood I removed the return line from the fuel distributor and ran a hose to a bucket. I then jumped the fuel pump relay and let gas flow until I got clean gas going into bucket. I then took hose going into bucket and put it into an empty 5 gallon gas can. Now fire the car over should run taking gas from galon can in rear and dumps it in 5 gallon can in front.

Or he can just that the return line off attach a hose to the fittting on the FD the return line attaches too with a clamp. run the hose to some containers and turn on the pump until the tank is empty of gas. Then refill tank with good gas and run pump until clean gas flows out. Re attached return hose and start car.

Yeah. I was called into work today and didn't get a chance to work on the car. I should have time tomorrow and I will see what I can do then. Thanks for the help!

Slight hijack:

Where I work has a '72 280 SEL 4.5 that's going to the crusher if no one buys it soon. Price is down to $750, and it runs and drives.

Well I gave it a try today. I spent about an hour under the car trying to get it going but could not get the fuel pump to go. Maybe this is the problem?

Yep it will not run without a good fuel pump. The 1 year old gas should be o.k. The gas in my 280ce tank was 15 years old I end up having to replace the tank. But one year old gas should be fine if you can get the pump working.

I suspected fuel pump failure initially. They are around $4 bones to replace($400.00)
