Remembering the last "serious" recession of the late 70's/early 80's - it was sad to see people selling their dream cars for maybe $0.25 on the dollar for just the PARTS that they put into them, never mind the labor. When times are good, collectibles go sky-high - when they are bad, you can't get anything for them, because no one has money and everyone else is trying to sell THEIR collectibles. This is one of the reasons that eBay is in a tailspin right now. At first lots of sellers, no buyers, and then fewer sellers.
