FS '85 300 TD Euro $1000

I bought this as a project, but I won't be able to go any further with any more repairs so I'll put it up for sale. I have only had it a little over a month. If it don't sell, I will likely be parting it out. Car is located in Herkimer, NY 13350. Thanks, Todd.

This car is still for sale. Asking $900. For parts or fix up. I did check it out a little more and found that there may be a head gasket problem. There seems to be some excessive pressure on the cooling system. No oil in coolant, no coolant in the oil, and no unusual smoke, just the excessive pressure. There are also a couple of spots on the subframe that appear to have been repaired. Photos of this can be seen in my Photobucket account.

Bump. I got an offer for $1250 but I would need to haul it down to the Philly area.

Do you have any history on the car? Im interested but a couple things bug me, 1st, since its a german euro car, the speedo should be in km, not miles. second at 140K miles the differential should be fine, same with the cv boots.
How do you know the cooling system is building too much pressure, is it blowing hoses, or overheating.

Do you have any pics of the jack points.

Im interested.

Thanks for inquiring. I have no history on the car. This is the US Euro version. I can tell you the diff isn't fine but the car can be driven. It clunks when put in gear and when you go between accelerating and decelaerating. Cooling system I'm not 100% sure about. The upper radiator hose gets pretty firm in a couple of minutes and it may be pushing a little bit of vapor past the radiator cap. I drove the car about 5 miles yesterday. It didn't overheat. It does have a road whine noise at speed.(tires, carrier bearing???) . I've tried to disclose everything about the car that I know but please understand, I have owned the car for 2 months but I never put it on the road and have driven it less than a few miles. I have an offer of $1250 but I would have to drive it down to Philly wich I may do. I would prefer someone come pick it up, and sell for $900. Price is firm, I already dropped $500 from the price. Thanks, Todd

Hi, you mention rust on the door, is there any other significant rust? Specifically jack holes, floors, rockers, lower part of front fenders, and perhaps the area under the battery, usually visible from underneath.

Thanks

See links in post #11 for those areas. It was rusted under the battery tray but I repaired that with fiberglass and epoxy. Battery tray was replaced.
