That price would not be acceptable to the masses, but you might find somebody with too much $$$ in their wallet.......

The following comment is tongue in cheek:

It's not likely that most on this forum would go over 2 grand, even if they came across a minty zero mile W123 diesel. Bragging rights go to those who can pay the least.

Advice:

If you want to get top dollar for an exceptional car, detail it, take quite a few top quality pictures of the car against a nice background, do your research on the history of the car, verify every little accessory works, and do a nice write up of the car. Do some obvious things like fixing the parcel nets (Hint: fabric stores sell black elastic cord.). If the car was in Florida, document it. It's not there now.... And, for God's sake, SPELL CHECK!

Look at completed sales on eBay, you'll see everything from a one sentence (That still manages to encompass multiple grammatical errors.) write up with one fuzzy picture, to a small book's worth of prose and enough pictures to fill a coffee table book.

Timing is another factor. Sales are slow right now, with the holidays, but pick up again towards the end of February.

I've been on the fence about selling my W123, so I've been following the market. I love the car, but I've another daughter entering college, and will soon have two tuition payments to make. Mine is also in exceptional condition, and there are buyers out there who recognize the wisdom in paying a bit more up front for a truly nice car. Not everyone wants a project and is willing to spend hundreds of uncompensated hours to restore a car. Not that there is anything wrong with that..... I've yet to learn my lesson, it's therapeutic for me, and I imagine most of us on this list are of the same mind as I.

Jim
