1984 W123 Coupe - proposed value

Does someone out there have any idea what the value of a W123 coupe is with 122K miles is? Missing the passenger side window. Easy fix??

A little more info and a lot of pics are needed. Pics of the body and interior and jack points. would be a great start. Second whats wrong with the car? What kind of maintinence has it seen? What have you fixed? Then someone might be able to help.

Realistically the range will probably be somewhere from $1500-3000. If you really want us to tell you a more accurate number we need much more info including pics.

Apparently the car has original 122K. I have not seen this vehicle yet (I will tommorow) and sounds like all is original, has a small tear in one of the seats (drivers I presume). Would this make a good daily driver? Or? I understand about the pix. Repairs according to the CarFax have only been dealing with the smog issues (CA). Owner says it has no leaks whatsoever.

Price is completely dependant on condition on a car this old. Lots more detail is needed to make any intelligent conclusions. Pictures would help of course.

I agree... much more info is needed. A 122k mileage'd 300CD can be worth from 1K to over 10K easily depending on many factors.

As an example, my '85 300CD has 133k original miles, and I purchased it from the original owner... all records included & documented service history for two decades. Mine has no rust (never had), mechanically fine, and in excellent condition in & out. My recent expenses include refreshing it cosmetically close to its glory days. I invested in it to drive & enjoy, not to park it as a museum piece, but I also know I will need to continuously maintain it to keep its condition in above average shape. The majority of my expenses is the replacement of nearly all the rubber seals and weatherstrips (NOT cheap on a 123 coupe). I don't have a hard value or figure for what it's worth but many MB enthusiasts who have seen it have all told me it's worth a substantial amount. It doesn't matter a great deal to me since I have no plans to sell it but I do know late model 300CD's in good shape & low miles are hard to come by nowadays. Hope this helps...

Post pics and provide more details for more acccurate estimates. Many 123 enthusiasts and owners here have valid opinions that may help you approximate a value for that coupe.

Exactly.

OTOH, I stopped and looked at a cd in Hammond yesterday offered for six hundred and didn't even consider it because it was so rough. The back seat is better than mine and the right color so I did think about that for a minute or two.

They are rare and nice to drive as well....something of an aquired taste but I have aquired the taste and like them.

How do we know this is a 300CD?
It could be a grey market car, 230C, 230CE, 280E, eh?

All we know is it's a 1984 coupe with a broken window and a ripped seat.

Thanks for the clarification. A 280 CE holds a different value than a 300CD. The incredibly high values some were talking about were on 300CDs. I don't think the 280CEs go that high for excellent examples.

300CD Turbodiesels are sought after (highly) outside the US... since they were only produced for the US market. Bring a nice & clean well-running documented 300CD-T overseas to countries in Asia, Europe, and almost any other continent (outside of North America) and that turbodiesel coupe will be a highlight of every EB, GTG, and MB club & enthusiasts alike.

However, there is nothing wrong with 280CE's at all. I like them too! Hope you find that it's a beauty. Good luck.

I'd take a Euro 280CE over a 300cd any day of the week. Them Diesels are fine for a 4dr sedan, but for a coupe the 280ce is the way to go.

Yes but that is personal preference. Just like I would take a 300CD over a 280CE any day of the week.

I was simply trying to inform the OP that many in this thread were referring to the 300CDs only.
