Rare find,w126 very low miles,(no affiliation)

Very nice example on ebay, just noticed, look at those wrinkles on the steering wheel and the unusual heated seats controls on the center console,no affiliation, should go to a shop member...

I do not much like the color but really like the car. Looks a lot like my old 1983 380SEL which was really a good car.

No affiliation, but an exact version, apparently an Euro, reasonably priced, in Sacramento, CA. A little more mileage but thats actually a good thing w/ MB's- being driven a bit more!

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/1071744899.html

1984 Mercedes 500SEL Runs Great, 117K Original miles!
This car is in good clean condition. It has been in the family since new. Regular dealer servicing, with oil being changed every 3000 miles, and very reliable having never broken down.
It was stored in a garage at night so the paint and clear coat are very shiny. The body has 1 small dent on the trunk, and a couple of .scratches but otherwise very straight. Inside is leather and has a little bit of ware, but in good clean shape also. New leather seat covers. (The seat covers were put on just before I took the picture so they look a little wrinkled. I was told that as the sun heats them up they will mold to the shape of the seat,. The seats are in good condition, the only rip is on the passenger seat about 3 inches long.)
Automatic, air, sunroof.
Very strong running engine and transmission. It drives very smooth and quiet.
All electric windows, locks, mirrors, seats, cruise control, AM/FM Cassette, alloy rims.
Good tires and brakes
New battery, oil change, and just had the inside and outside professionally detail cleaned.
We just bought a new car so this one is ready to go!.
Clean title and car fax in hand.
$2,195.00 or BO

Wow, that's not very far from me. I'm going to watch it and see how the bidding goes. I'm not too big on the color either, but that would be hard to pass up, if the bidding doesn't go too high.

Nice looking car. If you buy it you had better replace every hose and the tires as they are probably dried out after sitting so long. It would be worth it though. You can take it and drive right to a car show and show it. I would not 'daily drive' it as it looks too nice.

I was in Harrisonburg 3 weeks ago & saw this one sitting in the huge lot outside the Manheim Harrisonburg Auto Auction center. I was visiting the office building nearly next door. There were (3) W126s and (5) W124s sitting there waiting to get processed in (or something...). I could not stop staring out the window of the conference room I was having a meeting in (I am very typically distracted by cars, est. MBZs)...
I went over & checked them out after I left the meeting. They were all wide open with Keys in - this one was there. I got to it last (it was quite dirty on the outside, but nothing major)...
My opinion: I was very interested in it (my father is looking for a W126, 560SEL etc.) - I was deathly sick that day, but still spent about 45 minutes outside in the freezing cold checking it out. But to me, something seemed "off."
Frankly, the whole car seemed like it was just dug out of the basement... that is the impression I got on that day. I did not hear it run or drive it, but I did get the mothball impression.

There was also a lot of dampness around the heads/oil residue etc. on the block. The shocks were extremely weak feeling too.

Certainly a great deal for someone, but I believe they are asking a premium above $13K for it.

* please note, I can not be 100% totally sure this was the same car, but everything matches what I saw that day (car is much cleaner) but the background also looks the same... Seat Heater switches match too.

That's just it. It would be a great deal at the right price, just like anything. Thanks for your comments.

The more I look at those pics, the more I am certain that this is the very same car. . .

Buying this car Unseen & knowing that it needs: new times, all new primary hoses, 100% tune up, some possible brake & suspension work, fresh new battery, all fluids changed.... + add another $1K for "something" else that may pop up...

?FAIR OFFER/PRICE?

* my opinion *

$7500

Reasoning: Not being able to get testimony & detailed maint. records on the car from an actual previous owner really bothers me (from numerous past experiences). I also think the car sat way too much. But I would take a shot at it for no more than $7500.

I was thinking 4500-5000$,its not worth more even brand new still sitting at the museum in Stuttgart, and its not the same car 100%,I had a friend checked all the transactions at all Manheim auctions in the last 12 months, they never sold a 380/500sel,in PA with any kind of mileage...car has a different source, who knows?

Interesting. But I also hear from a broker that I talk to here in NJ that a lot of cars go down there & do not enter the actual Auction House/listing. When I saw this car it was not behind the fence & inside the actual secured auction area - a bunch of W124s & W126s were in the huge parking lot in the front... There was also a very nice '91 300SEL there, but with over 200K on it.
Whatever the reason, I'm sure someone out there knows - but I remain quite certain that this was the same car.

As for the price - I am the classic "over-payer"
