1985 300SD for sale

Originally a CA car. Turbo, intake/exhaust manifold converted to Fed emissions by me. NEVER driven in winter. From the pics you can see a few small rust spots. The paint is starting to fade on the roof. Car runs and drives well. It is going in for lower ball joints and front end alignment in two weeks. Car will need tires by end of summer. Dealer serviced to over 100k miles. Far too many service records to list here. A/C does not work. New compressor and drier installed but I believe there is a leak somewhere.

Everything else works great. 315k miles. Valves adjusted 3 years ago and timing chain stretch was next to nothing.

Like I said, far too many records to list here. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Between my wife and I we have 5 cars and I hardly ever drive this one. I admit price is a little high but the car is well sorted and I have extra parts to go with the sale. Original wheels, headlights as well as spare turbo and air cleaner assembly. PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE.

$5500

The car runs very well. I have a manual boost controller and a K and N filter installed. Car has custom exhaust, straight pipe the entire way back. No resonators or muffler. Wheels are in very nice shape. Euro headlights are Depo brand.

K&N filters should be renamed "dirt into engine doorway". Nice looking car though. Price might be a bit on the "very high" end though...

Several thousand miles and no problem with the filter. I've heard many things about the KandN filter and have never seen an engine failure.

Yes, the price is a bit high and so are the miles. But can you buy another SD as solid as this one with the maintenance records and history this one has, let alone the extra parts that go with the car? (original headlights, turbo, wheels, etc) The car is a toy for me and it just sits collecting dust. I am not really hellbent on selling the car as you can see by the price, however, the price is negotiable as posted.

We all know these cars can be had for less than the "book" value. If there is someone out there that wants to buy an SD that is well sorted with extraordinary service records here it is.

Besides, this is a forum to sell a car, not get critiqued.

Well....since you asked...

My dad's '82 300SD was bought for $750. Real Bosch Euro lights (Plus a spare set of glass lenses in the trunk), W140 wheels with new tires, has never seen winter, no rust at all, nice tint on the windows, free radar detector and a pretty much flawless paint job. Only problem was the engine had developed...a problem (at 314k) and was eating/dripping oil and belching blue smoke when running. We swapped the engine with a low miles MB rebuilt unit ($550)...had the trans resealed ($300)....and put about $500 of other parts onto it in the process.

End result: Mint car for $750+550+300+500....$2100.

Here's a pic:

My only question pertaining to the K&N is....Why? If it runs just as well with the MB setup and has better filtration, why bother with a K&N?

Very nice car you have there.

My motor runs flawlessly. Oil has been changed regularly and valves have recently been adjusted and timing chain checked for stretch. Would you like me to list all the things I have replaced on my car? I assure you that I have replaced far more than you. This is just in the past 2-3 years (10,000 miles)

Guide rod kit
steering stabilizer
tie rods
upper ball joints
motor mounts
tranny mount
tranny fluid/filter changed
center driveshaft support bearing
flex discs
rear stabilizer end links
fuel primer upgrade
new front rotors/pads
new front wheel bearings
recent rear rotors/pads
recent parking brake shoes
new ant mast
new upper oil cooler line...............

should I go on? Is this good enough for you?

The only reason I went with that air intake setup is because the only stock setup I had was the original CA version.

Why don't you take some advice from Mrhills?

IMHonestO, $5,500.00 is too high an asking price, even when you repeatedly post "negotiable." Negotiate to what reasonable figure for a car with over 315K miles on it? What you should advertise is a figure close to what reality would dictate a car with that many miles on it should sell for. If you are not getting any offers, that would positively indicate you are too high.
What is this anyway? The price I am asking is and ASKING price. Price is NEGOTIABLE. If someone here on the board would come along and ask to look/drive the car we could talk price. Maybe I would knock $1000 or $1500 off the price.

I don't understand, since when is this a place to post your car for sale only to be critiqued?

I realize the market is soft right now but I thought I would try anyway. Just didn't feel like GIVING this car away for $2500.

Gentlemen - please - this is a thread for the purpose of allowing a forum member to post his car for sale.

It is not a Kelley Blue Book analysis site, nor an aggregate for unsolicited market value speculation.

Please keep comments (if any) related to an interest in actually purchasing the vehicle.

Thank you!
