Give it a break with childess questions already, especially the guy with the ''rougue T'' fetish. It is very simple; if you do not want to buy the car, do not respond! All you do is waste peoples time thinking they have a response from an adult with a legitimate question. Remember, if all you have to comment on is the placement of a 'T', then you really have nothing to add. My guess is somebody knew what a DT meant because the car sold. I am sure that was what the poster really wanted and not silly, meaningless coments.

Most people can take a joke and not get all bent out of shape over the small stuff.

His intolerance of the rogue T is the only reason I looked at this thread in the first place. I was checking to see if he already handled business. You will find FAR more people that enjoy watching the wrath of TDT Man than those who are irritated by it.

The DT designation was given to 300D four doors made in the '80s that wore trunk badging on the left that said; 300D, and on the right said Turbodiesel. Since the left contains the D, naturally they are precisely referred to as DTs - really simple.
Now in the '99 & '98 model years of the E300 - there was NO 'D' on the trunk badge left, only E300 - so these are accurately referred to as E300TD - since the right badging states: Turbodiesel. Further - the MSO and state registered title refer to the E300s as E300TD as their model designation. And that's the real deal straight from Mercedes-Benz on the nomanclature. Also, on that era, some 300's were turbo'd others were not. However they all had the same trunk badge (300D) In order for people who are less familiar with our cars (I.e. n00bs and the insurance company) they are referenced as 300DT. (Diesel Turbo). Because you can't call it a TD unless it's a wagon.
Anywho, complete waste of time, energy and patience on this... NEXT!

Panties can get so bunched up sometimes.
It is quite the simple matter: The trunk badge of truth doesn't lie........ Remember, they may be referred to as a DT, but that would be done incorrectly. The many justifications are amusing, albeit improper, and OCD is all about propriety. Besides, I'm not here to argue my point, just make it!! BTW Gene, congrats on the sale!
