EURO 280SL FS, NY area, $3,200

All,
I'm starting to think about selling the car. I began to work on it myself, but because I couldn't find the time, i asked a shop to take care of it. They seem to be confused about what to do, and in weeks, they only managed to unmount the k-jet, and they can't tell me much more now. i insisted for them to do a compression test, and they tell me they got a 110-115 psi readings when they did it. Not sure how – and if – they did it, (probably at cold temp, and the starter seems to be weak).

Anyway, the car has almost no rust, except a bit on the hard top. I have a new battery, new air filter, new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, oil filter oil change. Basically i did my home work when i got the car. The car run but lacks power, and suffer high idle in neutral.

I think mostly we are speaking about problems with the fuel delivery system. When i got the car, the o2 sensor was – and still is – disconnected.
The odometer reads 94,000 miles. The car is not in amazing shape and need a paint job, but at this price, if you can do basics on it, you are good. Nice AMG rims on it.
So here i am, after months owning the car, not very far from where i was at the beginning.

I am thinking about selling it, if i cant get straight answer from the shop soon.
If you are in the area and you have $3,200 cash – which is exactly what i spent on the car, you should send me a PM.

Pictures are here, from last summer. Thanks for reading, and contact me at nicolasrapp@gmail.com

you have a serious vacuum leak causing you idle problem. on those engines the air intake system is very critical. check all you vacuum line and hoses.. wish i had listened to some before i got a 450sl 77 model. all seals must be replaced on the fuel injectors to get it right you may have to replace the cold start reg and a 1500.00 injection system if your car has one. but tell your mech. check all the vacuum hoses.and aux air valve.
