Difference between 2002-03 E320

I'm about to bid goodbye to my 92 300E w124 with 114k. After being the second owner for the last nine years my only hope is that the next owner gives it the same TLC. I've narrowed my selection down to a 2003 E320. However, I've found a 2002 with only 24k and in showroom condition.
Is there a significant difference between the 2002 and the 2003 model years.
MB tends to make significant changes on some models and unless you know what to look for you don't see them. Help me.

Definately go for the 02. The 03's were a new body style with the "brake by wire" system. The 02 was the last of the 210 bodys, and they seemed to really have the model perfected. The 03's were the first year of the 211 body,,, enough said. I would love to find an 02 with 24K.

The only exterior change that I notice is that the 2003 went to a more slanted headlight configuration and clearer a looking lens. As for the engine it is the same with a few interior changes to the instrument panel that I have noticed. If you know of anyone wanting a well maintained 92 300E I have their answer with many recent pictures to offer. Thanks for your reply.

Regarding the "break by wire" technology on the 2003 were there problems with it. I do know that there was a period of time (about ten years)when MB had mechanical problems in various areas due to the poor quality of OEM parts. Once these bugs were found out and corrected via recalls you had a good vehicle. Have a good day.

I have had no personal experience with the "brake by wire" technology, but word of mouth says there are problems with it in the E class. I believe they extended the warranty on the brake system on the affected cars, but when it does run out, I have heard that it could be a very expensive piece of equipment to repair, and , Mercedes dealers would probably be the only ones who could fix it. Going back to your original question,, 02 vs 03,,, I would always take the final year of a model run over the first year. There are major differences between the 211 and the 210.
