Rare 230TE "NO AFFILIATION"
Advertised as having the rare 5 speed box ! Certainly priced very low too. Maybe someone here can fit another one into their stable? Unfortunately I'm full up , for now.

Is that an M115 or M102 motor? If it's an M115, that's rare. If it's an M102, not nearly as rare, but still nice to have if you want upgrade an M102/M103/M104/OM60x car. -CTH

Its worth it just for the 5-speed. The euro cloth seats look to be in nice shape as well.

It's a M102. The 5 speed is not very common in this country and even over sea's, they're not considered common although you can find them if you look hard enough for them. This unit should be rescued , if it isn't a very rusty car? I have a 230 TE (w123) with a 4 speed and it has really proven itself beyond my expectations.

5 speed!
I'm all but certain that both the M115 and the M102 engines have their starter warts on the driver's side, so as has been mentioned the tranny would only be useful for some engines configured that way and would be unusable on any of the 615/6/7 diesel engine family. The original poster states that the engine is a 102 making it a pretty common configuration in the boneyards, more than a few 190E 2.3 cars with standard trannies up here in New England. Likely a 717.411 (GL 68/20 A-5) which was used up until October of 1985.
