1987 Mercedes Benz 420SEL. I drove from Ohio to New Jersey to see this "beauty". Described as engine strong, shiny white paint, excellent interior. The pictures posted are beautiful. When I get there, The interior has torn drivers seat, ripped back seats, window switch console needs replaced, switches are broken, car is filthy and smells of damp water, dash is cracked. ash tray wood falls off, power antenna does not work because it is not there. On top it all, inside the air filter compartment, a squirrel has built a nest and eaten away part of the filter. IF YOU MUST BUY A CAR ON EBAY, DO YOUR BEST TO GO SEE IT. I have always followed this rule. Guy has relisted 4 times. Car located in Little Egg Harbor, NJ

I wish I had gone to look at the eBay cars then I would not have owned some dogs.

His reserve price was $2350 and he would not budge while I was there. However he called me after I left and and asked what would I offer. I was so pisseed I told him to keep it. Have you read his feedback. Looks like he's done this before with another car.

Another thing to add to your bag of tricks is to post up a car you are interested in and have another member that is local go check it out. Perhaps even recommend a local shop that could inspect the car. If they aren't willing to take it to get inspected on your dime then pass.

I just drove over 200 miles roundtrip, towing a trailer, in order to look at a "very restorable 1947 Willys Jeep". When I got there, I realized it didn't have a single usable part on it and the seller sheepishly agreed. Since I behaved like a gentleman, the seller sold me a 1966 Cub Cadet(running), a 1960's vintage Briggs powered genset, and a old cast iron 5hp air compressor. All for $200.00.

If I had punched him in the mouth, he probably would have fed me to the alligators. Then again, people love to talk tough behind a computer......
