1981 MB 240D w/ or w/o WVO kit
Hello to All,
I am considering selling my 240D either with or without a custom built WVO, Vormax filter, secondary tank setup (see pictures). The WVO kit has been working great for the last 30K miles or so... Mileage: 280K 4spd manual transmission The car is showing it's age in the body department; (paint bubbling on left front fender, some rust on bottom of doors, floorpan and right hood hinge) What do you all think I could sell it for (based on pictures)? Any interest out there? (By the way, the BBS rims shown in the pictures will not be part of the sale; I have a set of steel 14" rims w/ standard W123 matching hub caps that will go w/ car) Thanks, Andy in New Hampshire Last edited by AJD; 08-19-2009 at 10:26 PM. |

Man I do like those rims. But about your kit. Your going to need to move away from the brass / copper. Or at least I think that is brass and cooper. It reacts to the wvo and produces slam.
I'm not sure about the value of the car, but I would move the kit you have over to the new 300sdl. You will need to purchase more coolant hose because our 300sdl's are LONG CARS. I have 2 inchs of free space after I put my car in the garage at night. You will also need a FPHE for the 300sdl, because this cars run cold, but do make sure that it doesn't have any cooper / brass welding in it. By the way I really like that tank you have some mad skills welding up a tank. I really wish I had the skills and gear to weld tanks. Good luck and keep on grease'n Michael from Texas

I've never heard of issues with brass. I've got brass fittings in my WVO system, and I've taken several of them out and never seen any ill affect on the brass. The copper on the other hand should go.
The best way to price your car is too look on Craigslist in you local area. Demand for these cars is a little different in each place. Seems like around here a good solid 123 sedan goes for in the 2500-3500 range depending on how nice it is. I would sells it just like you advertising here. With or without the VO kit. Figure out what you want for the car, then add what you figure you WVO kit is worth.
