It actually kills me to see the paint fade on this car, so yes I would like it to go to a better home. I have 2 work trucks, a mini van, a car and live in an inner city neiborhood with no parking or room to build a garage. yes you are right I forgot the miles. 160,000

I think that you are a little pompous. My transmission was replaced by a authorized Mercedes mechanic. I do not work on it myself and have records. If you are interested in purchasing, fine. If not, then you are not doing me much of a service.

He does state that it is 92' long, must be a one-of-a-kind. Wonder what year it is?

I did not know that everything has to be so specific with you. Of course the transmission matches and if you think that it was installed and rebuilt for $1000.00 then you REALLY do need for me to E.X.P.L.A.I.N. everything. It also says rim dings, not broken, unbalanced ones. Rather than sounding so highbrow about it you could just help nicely. If $10,500 is too much for the car then give me a reasonable number rather than telling me what else you can buy for the money.

Now that's purdy, a couple of photos does help. Silver over black is classic Mercedes.

How long have you owned it, has the A/C evaporator been replaced? Does the A/C work well and how often does it need refrigerant?

Are the seats, dash, and wood in A-1 condition or are there flaws? Anything else that doesn't look or function as it should?

Sidney,

I respectfully suggest you delete this thread and start over. The 500E is a very special car. Sell it a bit. Host some good size pictures on photobucket so you can put good size pictures in your ad. Put pictures from each side, under the hood, inside, in the trunk, etc. Lay your service records out on a table and take a picture. If you dont know how to link th epictures right into your ad from a host site, i would be happy to help.

This forum covers the entire north american continent and even overseas.
With such a large audience and wide distance, your goal should be to make someone want to travel 1000 miles plus for your car.

It is not a transportation appliance like a Honda, please dont treat it as such.

With this in mind, good luck with the sale of a very special automobile.

the evaporator has never been replaced. doesnt have a leak, blows cold. the wood between the rear seats has a crack, not A-1. will post more pic's when I return from out of town. I did not know that I would run into this type of audience. My friend/mechanic is the one that suggested this arena. I will consult him further. thanks

Yeah, it's a tough, but highly technical and accurate, crowd.

While you may not agree with the tone in which suggestions are offered, I have yet to see a suggestion offered that was not a benefit to the seller.

The tone here is more of a "nice fighting with you" type.....friendly arguments, good natured ribbing, sarcasm laying on top of helpful hints. For someone that's never been here, it's a little weird.

Like walking into a bar and up to a table of complete strangers (to you), but turns out they've known each other all their lives and give each other hell whenever they get together. You could imagine how a "new guy" might be treated, even though to them it's nothing they don't do to each other all the time.

If it were mine, and I was trying to sell, here is what I would do.

Host about 15 good quality pictures. Create a template that has the text and html tags, so that you can copy paste the same ad on multiple sites.
Then I would post an add here, on a few other MB forums, and on craigslist in the 10-20 largest cities in the US. With good pictures, and good decriptive text, you would have a good chance of a sale. Do remember the economy is not what it was, it may take a while. If you use craigslist remember to delete your add every 3-4 days and start a new one to keep it near the top.

Put the VIN in the add. A few of us like to check the options through the Russian VIN checker site: http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng
