I think it would be hillarious if he got 17 offers, all between a few hundred and $950 or so. There's no way he's going to sell it that cheap.

I can vouch for Tyler.....oh, wait a minute...

This is no kidding Tyler, I knew a Jewish family named "Shiller", when I was a kid. I figure there's a Black Sheep or 2 on their family tree.

Wow, nice detective work. Yes, all three appear to be from the same seller, one easy and IMO obvious sign is that the photos from all three auctions originate from the same Photobucket account in the name of "josethesaladtosser".

Private seller? I don't think so.

But the Texas tags are out of date since July 2008; and does he mean that he bought the car 20 years ago?

And this ad for yet another 123 looks suspiciously like the same seller, but under a different name. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-300-Series-300D-RARE-85-300d-TURBO-TX-104K-MILES-2OWNER-W123-MAKE-OFFER_W0QQitemZ260481102093QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3ca5e2310d&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

These would all get an "avoid" recommendation from me. In none of the ads do the pics really match up to the words in the ad.

Also - does anyone else find it odd when a car's wheels in a series of pics are always straight ahead, but the steering wheel is significantly cocked to one side?

Not to pile on, but there's at least 250K of wear on the windlace around the driver's door. I didn't notice the dash cover though, until I saw the closeup around the glove box.

Since you guys were doing such a fine job without me, I didn't really see the need to contribute.

Shilling on ebay is like doing a California stop. Its so common and easy that nearly everyone does it. I didn't have to shill my last sale, though.

If it had been left out in the TX sun, I'd expect more of a "pinkamino" color on the seats.....

Wonder if the bidders realize it's NOT a turbo....

There's one born every minute

Sold with "Buy it Now", which had been lowered to $15k.

I hope these buyers are in the market for a nice little manual transmission sedan, when I go to sell my 240D.

I would not be at all surprised if the buyer backs out after seeing the car in person.

FWIW the VIN comes up as invalid on carfax. big surprise.

Edit: I'm stupid...carfax only goes back to 1981

Looks very familiar

I KNEW I should have Ebay'd it !

Look here at post #11, last picture. Same missing speedometer center cap.

New member of the Wagon Club

I did a few needed repairs, drove it for a year and I sold it to this douchebag for $1800. He comes over and lowballs me with some story about his W123 sedan getting wrecked and really needed transportation. Seemed to know alittle about these cars so I droped my asking price from $2500 to the $1800 which was all he claimed he had. His first offer was $1200.

It looks like he had it painted and dashcap'd it. Still has the missing right backup light that I removed to locate a suitable replacement.

I don't believe that car had ever been garaged.

And, I never drove it to church.

Also look at the spots on the hatch area carpet. It's been cleaned but some of the deeper spots are still there.
