Looking for a 190e 2.3 or a 240d
We're on the lookout for a 190e 2.3.....or a 190d....or even a 240d.
If you have a nice one and are looking to sell for 2k or less send me a PM. Location is not a huge issue unless you're on the far reaches of the continent. Edit: It has to be automatic and not have the evil servo.

So no-one out there with a decent 240d auto or 190e 2.3 auto that they want to sell to me? (I'd consider 300D's and 190e 2.6's also)

I appreciate that, I will be sure to let you know. I'm holding off until Tuesday/Wednesday when my dad returns from a trip, as he is part of the search. I went and looked at a 240d that is local to me.....they want $3100 for it....wow. Just from looking at it:
-Tie rods -Oil Pan (dented and leaking) -Interior is "marginal" (torn tex seats--how?!) -Odo not working supposedly its at 180k or so -Some rust (minor overall) -A/C belt gone (obviously system is dead) -Headlight doors cracked/chipped -Ghetto exhaust system -Missing a hub cap Its a $1000 car at best....I have yet to test drive it and don't know if I will, but my guess is that they will not be pleased with my offer if I made one.... Also, I am still pondering the diesel thing.....and think a 190e would be better....we'll probably kick up the search/checking out cars once he gets back.

Yes....my sister does a lot of short drives and in the winter that would not be ideal with a diesel.....also, the 190's have ABS, which would be a very good thing for her to have as well....
Currently I'm open to finding any 190e.....either 2.3 or 2.6.

ah, ya that makes sense. I don't have to worry too much about the diesel cold start in the winter since florida is always hot. ABS is always a plus. I might have to find a 300e or 190e for right now just because 240d's are so hard to find and I'm getting to the point where I NEED a car.

There's a few 240's available around here, but the sellers all live in fantasy land in terms of the price. Its really annoying. I just got into an e-mail argument with a guy yesterday with a 190e 2.6 with 263k on it....he wants $3000 firm. Best part is, the car needs a heater core and he has no other history on it. He bypassed the heater core because it leaks on the floor. He claims he can swap a heater core in 6 hours and to quit wasting his time! For some reason MB sellers around here tend to have attitudes....not sure why that is.
