420 SEL 617.95 power

O.K., tire kickers and all others welcome to all your opinions. I finally have finished a project conceived about 2 yrs. ago. My wife really liked this big sturdy white 420 SEL with broken engine at 137K miles. She asked if could replace the engine with one of my pet 5 cyl. diesels? We ended up with too many cars and going separate ways. Finally found a 156K 617 donor and finished the project. I had the Injector pump tuned to help carry the load and now have become attatched to the special ride and amenities of the later 126ers. The car is white with palomino and in pristine condition. My thoughts at the time were that the late model diesels were not worth the chance of #1 cyl, burned piston, and worping heads. Thought a 617
5 cyl would be an improvement to the body and integrity of the late models. Now that its done I feel that I have been correct. Obviously I am looking to sell the car or at least my 84 300SD.

For me this car has more value and potential for a much longer life than it ever had as an 89 diesel or gaser. Would anyone like to venture a value for the car?

Thanks, carp

Hard to say without pics. It also depends on the quality of work you did on the engine swap. I know I perpetrated some real automotive butchery shoehorning a V8 into my old Dart, and the money I got when I sold it reflected that.

Did you use an automatic transmission (yawn) or convert to manual?

Also consider you're up against SDLs with the newer diesel engines. Without any further information, maybe $5k?

I like that combo. I would be a buyer for the right condition and price.

I've often thought it'd be a wonderful setup as well if it's done cleanly.
The six just isn't a sound investment for a lot of people.
