WTB: w124
I'm looking for a w124 to buy for my dad within the next few months. Preferably a diesel, although a gasser would work if it was a nice example. Willing to travel to get it - a southern, rust free car would be ideal.
Must have the big ticket (e.g. wire harness, AC evap) already repaired, or be willing to discount price for those items. This will be mostly a highway cruiser, so working cruise would be a bonus. Obviously, the lower the miles, the better. Definitely don't want any rust brought up here to the Rust Belt, though...that's a deal breaker. Budget is $3k-ish. Thanks.

hmmmm.... I have an 87 300d. But for $3000 ish it would not come with my beloved CLK wheels. I have never looked too much in to the AC. I know it's complete but the compressor does not come on.

Did you see my 91 124 300D listed here. It has new evap and the one in front of the radiator is also new. The blower or blower fuse is dead or the Climate Control is one, both are easy job to do, but my arthritis and bad back has finally made my auto tinkering a thing of the past. Also the car has a excellent working cruise control, all gages work, LR window does not work thanks to broken or lose wire again.
Check out all the work I have put into the car in the last two years. This car gets 33/34 MPG at 70 MPH range, but if you drop back to 55/60 MPH where the car was set up for national 55 MPH speed limit in 91 you will get 36/38 MPG with 46 cetane or better diesel fuel. This picture is about 2 1/2 years old, and car has some Wal-Mart dings and dents in it now, and it's not as clean as it was back before we started raising the two grandsons (19 mo and 4.5 years old now), but it would be an excellent commuter car. Check out the link in this section for more info.
