I'm selling my trusty 240D. I bought back in May after I lost my car in an accident. The car is kind of a monster. It was originally a 300D and had a 240D engine transplanted. With the little money I had this was my best option and I wanted something I could work on (if time allowed). I'm selling it now because I need the money and I can't afford insurance on an extra car right now. I hate to see it go but I'd rather sell it to someone that understands these cars.

Since May I have replaced the alternator and alternator bracket, glow plugs, and performed a diesel purge. The car starts right up after using the glow plugs, and takes about 7 seconds to start on a cold engine without the use of the gp's.

The car has never failed me or left me on the side of the road, although it does need some minor attention. Here's the list:

-Tranny's shifting hard. I've been troubleshooting the vac system little by little and replaced many components in the engine bay. Additionally, the linkage to the transmission needs adjustment, since the reverse lights only go one when pushing the shifter down towards neutral.

-Some of the injectors are leaking. The leaks are were the injectors meet the block. I cleaned the block to see how much they leaked and its not severe.

-There is (I believe) a mileage discrepancy. I made the mistake of not asking the previous owner if the odo is the original one or the one belonging to the new motor. It definitely has been messed around with because there are scratches inside the cluster and trip ODO doesnt work.

-There's some rust on the body and the paint is not original. The paint job is a little poor on some parts of the car. One of the jackholes got covered up. I assuming it was pretty bad.

There are other things the car needs. I was planning on keeping the car as a daily driver since it never had reliability issues. I drove it 6 miles to and from work everyday and loved it.

Would like to get $1000 but I'm willing to consider offers.

Almost. Three cracks: one next to each of the speakers, and one right behind the cluster.

The only one visible is the one below the right-side speaker. You can almost catch it in the picture.

Sadly enough this car HAS to go. Please, any offers. I need it gone soon. We've been getting low temperatures here in NJ and I can still manage to start the car without plugging it in.
