84 300D $700 320k miles
Thread is located here. Just brought home #10
I've done the valve adjustment, fuel filters, primer pump, power steering filter and fluid, trans filter and AMSOIL fluid replacement, diesel purge, hood release cable, cigar hose, checked glow plugs and installed new injector heat shields, new injector return lines, and just adjusted the ALDA. Slow to shut off, and I seriously suspect the brake booster. When I plug the line, vac is good, hook it up, and it drops way down to less than 5psi. Brakes will bleed off the reservoir if you're doing a lot of parking lot braking. I put in a replacement teleflex cable, but cannot get it hooked up fully. Sunroof will not open more than a few inches, which explains the destruction of the old cable. Has a working sunroof motor now, but is not hooked up to the telelfex cable. For those in VA, has inspection til May. Car does pull a little to the left. Starts in the 25 degree weather. I'm driving this car to work, so it isn't all bad. $700 is the asking price. I'm still debating swapping the engine into the former California car, so we'll see what happens. It's a beater, but reliable. I've been getting between 27-29 mpg, which is better than my 85. Seats are not ripped or torn, which is a bonus. More pics here. http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa26/t_goat69/1984%20300D%20Blue/

Zero interest in it? Why buy an unknown engine for 600 from a junkyard, when you get a complete testable drivetrain for a little more? I know it's not a good looking car, but I just hauled 15 boxes of laminate flooring home. It's almost got 321k on it now. Shoot, give me 900 and you can have the former CA car too, and do the swap yourself.

If you buy my Rabbit I'd gladly drive that beater every day!! I'd fix the brakes and drive it as it. It's glorious! Kind of in a european blues brothers kind of way.

Did I mention the KKK turbo, or the Pilkington windshield? No Chinese crap on this one. Also, the PO was running either Zerex Z05 or the real deal for antifreeze. Someone took care of this car mechanically, just got the metal beat on. Oh, it needs a lower ball joint now, unfortunately. I can throw in an Eclipse head unit too.

Is this car still available? In your opinion, would it make a trip to Atlanta? What more needs to be done to it? Have you gone over it any more since the last post? Looks to be a nice car.

Still avail, it will make it anywhere. Sometimes it gets the shakes because of the ball joint, but I still drive it. I've been thinking of just putting the suspension work into it, and driving it as is. I can always find another engine for the white one. (which may just need injectors. If it's dry out today, I'm changing them).
