1985 300D: Ol' Turbo 198k, Wichita, Ks $3995.00

No, this is no joke. I've decided to part with my beloved Ol' Turbo and move on to other cars. Many forum members all over the country have seen and driven Ol' Turbo, and can testify to its condition. Some (The_Don) has referred to it as one of the forum's "legend cars". Its life since purchase has been documented on this forum.I have toyed with the idea of selling before, but this is my first time advertising.

I purchased this car back in 2007 (165k) and have put alot of work into making a show ready driver. All maintenance is up to date, and countless items repaired which I have documented. The car currently has 198,000 miles on it, and is ready for another 198,000. Hot air and Cold R12 AC with a new compressor, new brakes, replaced suspension components, new tires, oil cooler lines, recent valve adjustment and shut off valve replacement, recent transmission adjustment and service, the list goes on and on. The body, paint and interior are in great condition, the front seats covered with authentic Australian sheepskin covers for extra comfort. The car starts well in very cold weather, and the turbo spools up just like it should. This is also the smoothest shifting W123 that I have ever driven since Dieselkraught tuned it atop Angeles crest, and many forum members who drove it have agreed. The only issues are thumpy but functional rear window regulators, dead antenna that fully extends manually, and disabled vacuum locks. Absolutely no fluid leaks of any kind, a rarity with these older diesels. Wheels were proffessionally refinished and less than 1000 miles ago I put on new Bridgestones. I would not hesitate to drive this car across country, and I have on numerous occasions, including 3 trips to Texas, 1 to Vail, Vegas, and Southern California, and 1 trip to New Orleans and Central Florida. I have photos of the car in all these places. I also keep in touch with the original owners, and have a photo of the car from back in 1987.

All sentimentality aside, this will make a great car for the next owner. It should provide decades of enjoyment with proper care. I have priced it this cheap because it simply must go to a forum member who will take care of it. The asking price is about the same as the quote for the paint job. I want to hear updates on the car as well.

Oh, the places you'll go!

Corpus Christi, Tx

Edwards, Co

Las Vegas, Nv

Las Angeles, Ca

Grand Lake, Ok

New Orleans, LA

Memphis, Tn

Destin, Fl

The original owner leaving her wedding day Dallas, Tx: 1987

Are the cheekprints still there? That would certainly add value.
Wish I had the money Tyler. Good luck.

Is there a right hand print in the middle of the hood? Did you pick the smallest one to get up on the corner of the hood?

Yes, I noticed the Mississippi pic you took in Memphis. The Mississippi is a LOT wider than it appears in that photo.....must be the telephoto lens.

Yeah, I can believe that when you started this thread, Ol' Turbo knocked the power out.

Hey Tyler, what wheels come with the car? Also, what is the disconnected vacuum device on the left wheelwell?

Wow, I never thought you'd part with it. Then again, you don't seem to keep cars very long! It sure is a clean W123.

The disconnected vacuum elements came from Garrett (dieselkraught) during his tuning of Ol' Turbo. The blue disk and all those other elements are 1985 only components and not needed for the car. He restored it to a simpler pre-1985 setup, returning alot of my boost, and adjusted the transmission to shift smoother than any W123 I've ever owned or driven.

Other people can attest to the cars generous acceleration and smooth shifting as a result of this. The transformation was incredible.

I sold the Pentas last summer. Comes on refinished 14" Bundts with nearly new Bridgestone tires. The first 12 photos are a few days old.

Here are some pictures I have of OT. It's a spectacular car, whoever buys it will own one of the nicest 123's I've ever seen.

Do you know of any decently priced shipping companies?
I wonder what shipping would be to a big stop near NYC.

I'm seriously considering, but regardless I know it will go to a very lucky forum member. Same color as my old sedan, but in much better condition.

Any rips/sags in the front seats? What's the blowby situation, and how are the rear axle boots?

I have a great source on enclosed shipping. Recently used them for a 1100 miles trip and it only cost $500.00. You can also put an ad at Uship.com, or I can if you would like. Starting zip code would be 67206.

The MB-Tex seats do not have any tears, and I did rectify the sagginess below with a pool noodle treatment. I also went beyond that, reinforcing aging horsehair pad with memory foam, on both the front and back seats. With the sheepskin covers, its very comfortable.

The blowby is minimal, same goes for the oil consumption. I've never had to top off between oil changes, and it has always started on the coldest day. The axle boots are original, but in good condition. No leaks, seepage, anything like that.

I do have the service records for everything I've done, along with the dealer stamp maintenance book which corroborates with the original owner's tenure with the car. (about 2001 and 120k) It was then that Ellen Masterson gave the car to her son, who sold it to the guy I bought it from. The owner before me was a tractor mechanic, and did his own maintenence. The car spent most of its life in Texas.

Here is a photo of the interior before I rectified the sagginess with the pool noodle and memory foam. As you can see, it wasn't that bad at all. The pinkamino isn't extreme either, but one of the to do items on this car was a leatherique redying treatment.

I also replaced the stereo with a very good Poineer unit, and 4 new speakers. Along with the CD and auxillary port, it has built in XM satellite radio with free service for the next owner until March. It was a must have with all the road trips I was doing.
