1986 300E for Sale $2000 OBO
EDIT on 1/27/09: I am most likely buying a new auto on Sat, I'm def open to making a good deal to anyone interested. I want to keep this car in the Mercedes community, rather than listing it in the paper. Please let me know if you are interested. I am in Lansing MI, but the vehical is right off of I96 and can be viewed anytime. Thanks
Email: joe.merriman@gmail.com if you are interested 1986 300E 253,000 miles Location: Lansing Michigan $2000 OBO, would make deal if going to a good home where it can be used for parts or restored. not recommended for anyone unfamiliar with these cars I've loved driving and working on this classic for over 5 years now. It's still my daily driver and the engine has many more miles left in it. I have a 2y/o son and the relatively minor issues like window motors and door lock issues are just too much to stay on top of anymore. I'm going to go with the new chevy Malibu and take the easy way out for a while. This 300E is a great value and I have a link with some photos below. I will say however that although the engine still sounds great and the interior is about as good as it can look as old as it is, there are a number of minor issues that I'll try to list here. So here's a breakdown of not working stuff and new installed components. Not Working: -two window motors froze, tho the driver window does work -a/c does not work -a little tricky to get started in the cold, but I live in Michigan and have never been late to work due to this car -the heat does work well, however recently the defrost vents have not been blowing regularly, and is a little tricky to defrost or may get foggy. -door locks are messed up, but the passenger side door does unlock, to lock you can press down the drivers side interior lock -installed euro lights, but rocks must have hit them and they do have small cracks, tho work just fine -passenger seat track mounts are broken, so the controls will still move the seat but is a little crooked Newly installed or highlights: -wheels all look great, new tires all around last fall -some rust, but overall good body panels -never been in a collision or had body damage -dash and seats in really nice condition -new starter installed last fall -new last fall, center and rear mufflers, sounds great, no rattles -within the last few years I've replaced: water pump, p/s gear box, alternator, new Mercedes brand battery, prob some other things -after market stereo with rockford fosgate speakers in front and rear. wired for XM, but may need a new player, mine is a few years old http://s827.photobucket.com/albums/zz194/merrim19/
