1993 500E

1993 500E Smoke Silver/Palomino; Very rare high-performance sport sedan. Product of a joint venture between Mercedes Benz and Porsche. 325 hp V-8 engine and sport suspension make this innocent-looking sedan a real sleeper. Considered by many to be one of the best Cars ever built by Mercedes. (Search "500E" for more details.)

This example has been well cared for, professionally maintained and adult driven. Recent major service; new alternator and water pump; Michelin Pilots; all original and completely stock.

This car is not a museum piece but it is in very good condition. You will receive a lot of compliments on its looks and condition.

This is a chance to own a rare piece of Mercedes history that you can drive every day.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to price it publicly (it's a mistake, IMO, but it's your mistake), but how many miles are on it is quite basic information.

[Nitpick on] It has 315HP, not 325HP. Even the 1st year 1992 with the LH module 'only' had 322HP. [Nitpick off]

Good luck with sale!

Bruce

p.s. So guys, this one with 124K in nice shape seems reasonably priced (to me)at $12,750.

What would similar reasonable price be for excellent condition (both mechanically and cosmetically) 1994 E500 with 64K miles, 199 charcoal over light grey, needing nothing and fully inspected?

I agree. Good price, just not many buyers.

Bruce, how do you price a car when any comparables are sitting in either a museum, Jay Leno's garage, or the prince of Dubai's collection?

Good question. I see similar cars to the one I described with asking prices of $27.9K to $29.9K, but they seem to be just pie-in-the-sky asking prices, no action.

$24.9K seems like high retail with at least a little sanity/justification, so I'm gonna ask $22.9K, and then get haggled as I still have a little room to move. I also don't send my cars out needing stuff, so I have to do cam oilers, thermostat, tires, wiper blade, radio volume control knob repair, take out a few paintless door dings, detail, blah blah blah. It adds up fast.

I think that the only way the OP's car gets over ten would be because it isn't black and it's an unusual palomino. The market for these things is pretty depressed. There's a 69k black on grey in Westchester Cty, NY that's been for sale for a long time at 23.7k, though the seller would have taken 18k when I was interested. It did need a few minor things as my PPI showed, but nothing more expensive than a set of wheels.

I'd say a truly Mendel-Pristine 64k 94 could get 20k. Somebody's got the money set aside for a really nice .036 and could have been waiting just for this one.

Somebody on the 500E board bought one with some ridiculously low mileage, like 30kmi, down in Florida last year for 24k, I think.

Bruce - I saw your .036 on Ebay, that is one awesome looking car. Good luck with the sale. I may have to stay away from Ebay for a few days.

Thanks, just dropped $$ on a new bowden cable, so hoping someone appreciates all the money I just put into it (now approaching $3K). Probably not though!

I'm sure someone will come along. Bottom feeder Mercedes buyers aren't really shopping for 500E/E500s. You have the right car for the right niche, Bruce.

*edit: I will nitpick your ad a bit Bruce. Those flash photos in the dark aren't very flattering. I'm glad you got control of the caps button, though.

LQQK?

I'm learning as I go. Car got detailed, rain was predicted for next 4 days, ad was already placed for Sunday night start, went to park with kids, took dogs for walk, and then finally got car to park for photos. Such is my crazy life sometimes.

I still love the caps lock, don't misunderstand. Just trying it out on adivce of a few thousand ebay messages. Those two q's in LQQK are good for at least another $1000. Just like when you detail your car and it runs better.
