1983 240d Manual transmission

Gentlemen,
I am selling my '83 240d manual - after having it less than a year. Purchased
from a member of this board last Sept . A nice example of the model year year , my most succinct evaluation of the car is this.

NO RUST - Texas car - for those of us in the Mid Atlantic and anywhere north of DC. This was important to me as rust is insidious. ( Why bother fixing anything as the rust is slowly /methodically taking away your all your efforts)

OVERALL
This was probably a well maintained unit for the first 15 -20 years of its life. With the last 10 years or so , perhaps surviving on its own?
Having said that , it is still all there - it starts right up in the cold of this winter , clutch is a bit weak, tranny is a bit sloppy , 2nd gear grinds if you try to throw it right into gear , take your time ( show it some love )and its goes with out a issue.

A brake cylinder is leaking down , top off the master cylinder and lots of brakes.

Good tires all around- matching.

a/c works

Interior
Seat is non supportive
drivers has a rip in seat back

all other seats in excellent shape

Dash - ( lets talk about something else) like the beautiful sunroof!

Windshield - cracked , all other glass ok , tint on rear glass

Engine - rattles and rattles some more , exhaust leak ( new down pipe in trunk), doesn't want to shut off with the key !

White paint - a painted fender or two , chips and etc etc. A few "chinks in the armor" - what you might expect after 27 years and 263,000 miles
otherwise a nice decent appearance.

No major leaks , (the wife can't complain about oil/ diesel puddles) .
and .......NO RUST

However my wife is complaining , I have a service work van out front , and we have twin girls unexpectedly home from 1st year of collage and I purchased a car from a member Whiskey Dan - '72 280 with the small block chevy motor -( should be quite the contrast from the 4cly diesel 64 hp)

small residential house in Towson Md.
1 - ubiquitous silver mini van
1- toyota camry - new lease program ( 209 /m) wifes new car
1- jeep grand cherokee
1- 240 -d
1- 1ton extended van

new sleeper benz on the way

small driveway , no garage , wife not agreeable to my little collection of benz's

$1600.00
