my grandad asked me to sell his diesel, since I spent some time in one of these as well I obliged.

1985 300 SD.

Transmission is factory rebuilt unit with 40K. This, the low miles engine, and low miles chasis are the biggest selling points for this car. Car is clean as most Mercedes are.

Engine is low miles transplant, with 130K, chasis has 168K. Motor was replaced b/c an oil change went wrong and original engine was fried, too bad too b/c that was a very smoot running diesel. This replacement is very good as well, however the numbers will not match. Very clean engine bay, doesn't have typical water spotting from a recent pressure wash like most for sale cars b/c it didn't need one. That is just how clean this car is.

Paint is original, no accidents, some nicks and rubs but nothing major. worth mentioning though b/c u mercedes crowd are a hard lot to please.

Power seats, both work.

Vacuum system is in top shape, recently rebuilt the pump, doors lock quickly, engine turns off quickly and transmission shifts very smoothly.

Body seals are good, suspension is good, not excellent, but no loud clunks, or blown shocks.

Car has ABS, unit works, no ABS light.

Only known electrical item:

Rear power windows do not work.

Car runs at 100C, if I were to keep it I would replace the fan clutch, or swap out the belt driven fan for a puller electric fan.

Car gets 30MPG, run it at 80 on the freeway and your closer to 25 MPG.

Tires have about 10K left.

Have new 2011 tags.

30 mpg below 60nph and at 80 i bet it would be 20mpg.........

Is the asking price $5k?
- What # owner, or is the current owner the original owner?

Seems like a nice car, but for 5k I would get that engine temperature issue/concern resolved - otherwise someone should really have that PPI'd for greater clarity.
