That's an incredibly clean car. I love W116 chassis cars.

Is this a euro car? It has the manual climate control, which I've never seen on a U.S. spec car.

That's a fantastic looking car. That color is so ugly its' attractive. If I had the money I think it would be mine even though it's not fuel injected. That interior really looks to be exceptional. I'm also curious as to weather or not it's a US car or a federalized grey market import. I don't see a MPH and KPH on the speedometer but everything else looks US.

Well, she sure is a beauty. How long have you owned it and why are you selling it?

It is in beautiful condition. I just can't imagine the first person plunking down the money to buy a car that color in the first place.

i think the true color might be slightly different than the pictures portray, either because of the lighting or the camera.

I'd be interested to know the paint code and color name. I believe it's the "safety orange" that the germans developed in the early 70's. VW had the same, or a very similar color. I recall seeing quite a few of them of that color back in South Africa when I was growing up. Including a 116 280S that always parked near our church every I recall looking at it with my father and brother one day walking back to our car and the elderly owner showed up. The first thing he said was "what do you think of the color?" We weren't quite sure how to reply He did say that if he were ever to buy another it would be the fuel injected version as the carb version was so sluggish. However many years later when I bought a 79 280S I didn't find it to be too bad. There were certainly zippier cars on the road but that's not what it was about and it was a wonderful long distance highway eater.

If that is the original paint, or substantially the original, then it will have faded quite a bit over the years.

good point. maybe that is the true color? it looks a little rose/pink/coral (?) which might be paint fade. but the car is pretty the sweet, all things considered.

I found the car on ebay, and am sorry to hear about your motorcycle accident, which is forcing the sale of this car:
