Want to buy: 80's Diesel Merc in Colorado

w123,w124,w126's as long as they are turbos are of interest.

The vehicle should not be a "project" vehicle and not have a ton of deferred maintenance on it. I'd want a car with a current smog and title. In a perfect world I'd want a black 300sd with decent leather and rugs.

This will be a daily driver for my dear wife, I'd hope for at least an 85% interior. No body damage and no rust - faded paint OK.

I'm realistic about pricing on a vehicle in Good/Excellent condition and will not disrespect you and your efforts in keeping your diesel in good condition by low balling.

I'm just hoping for a fair deal on a nice old Mercedes diesel. I'm located near Boulder and will drive an hour in any direction to see your ride. I have cash in hand and am ready to purchase the right car.

Please contact me if you have something along the lines described about for sale.

I sent him this link but he had already seen it in person and had nothing nice to say about it.

I'll let mankypro fill in the details if he likes.

The "black" 300sd:

1. no oil on the dipstick
2. no atf on the transmission dip stick
3. probably the reason for no dripping leaks
4. car used to be blue, was painted black with an earl schieb type job, it has drips - it's a travesty, paint is utterly bad. door jambs still blue...
5. no rust!
6. body moldings missing
7. passenger's hood hinge broken, corner of hood has been ground into the passenger lower windshield repeatedly.
8. Windshield cracked.
9. dash cracked
10. leather cracked throughout with foam popping through everywhere.
11. interior moldings missing - too many to mention
12. vents do not operate correctly, gets "stuck" in certain positions.
13. center window panel between seats broken and sunk in, switches loose.
14. sunroof inop
15. driver's window inop

shall I continue?

Picked up an 83' 300sd white/palomino I'd begun considering more than a year ago from a neighbor who cried this evening as I pulled away in it.

It is a thing of utter beauty. I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy...

The only thing that is strange is that there is basically NOTHING to do besides an oil change, 20k valve adjustment and replace the CC module.

I'm in love. I sense that this will not end well, as I will now obsessively trawl MB for sale ads for another one FOR ME!

Don't expect us to talk you out of getting another one.

Are you obsessed with MB diesels?

your 300d.. my 87sdl etc..

im new to the denver/boulder area, i have an 87SDL that had an engine swapped into it from an 81-85sd, a 617, when the aluminum block cracked im sure on the SDL ten years ago.. and it runs great, but hot, i need someone local to help me work on it, i would be interested in your 300D as well, as i need 3 more cars, 2 4x4 and a normal one, all diesel would be great and all inexpensive with little repairs. im ready to buy now..

so im curiuos about whose selling diesels in the area.. and where i can take the car to get it worked on and not get worked myself in the process..
