2 Original California M103 W124s!

2 M.B. 300Es! An 88 and an 89. These both have M103s and 4 spd autos. They have been here in California their whole lives.
Code enforcement is on my back again and these 2 are the only 2 that I can sell easily (the others have too many issues). These cars are members of the family. We brought our son home from the hospital in the 88 and our daughter home from the hospital in the 89. They are good cars even though they have some miles on them and they run strong (233,000 on the 89, 194,000 on the 88). You could get in them and drive them anywhere!

The 89 leaks a little oil out of the front of the valve cover area and the 88 leaks a very small amount of trans fluid. The 89 has a salvage title but for the life of me I don't know why. There is no sign of a collision anywhere under, inside, or outside of the car that would justify it.

I'd like to get $1,600 apiece for them or I'll take $2,500 for both if they could go to the same home as they've been together for 5 years now and I think it would be pretty devastating to them to be separated.

They are nice inside and they are the most reliable cars I have ever owned bar none, period.

These could be good, safe, solid Winter cars for the family since these W124s have a reputation for just laughing at road salt.

These are all of the 89. The 88's pics will come soon hopefully. Click the image for a larger view.

I didn't even vacuum the carpets for these photos, they could be vacuumed and look nicer than they do here if someone has the time. I don't. But as you'll see in the next paragraph, the car is clean where it really counts the most.

This is a view inside the oil fill hole. See how clean it is?

This last shot is my attempt at showing one of the Bilsteins I installed not too long ago that only have about 10,000 miles on them.

These W124 Benzes are revered as the best MBs ever made. They routinely clear 300,000 miles. These are good, dependable daily drivers.
Regards, Eric

OK folks, let's cut to the chase. Stop waiting for me to lower my prices and post up what you'd be willing to pay if these cars pass your muster. I'm not committing to anything here but I will give sincere offers serious consideration. Surely you all know a nephew or niece who needs a good, solid, dependable car. I'm advertising these cars now on other sites as well.

I should clarify that these both have the 3.0 L version of the M103. No weak kneed 2.6s here.

Post any questions you have here on the thread please, not in a PM. Thanks.
Regards, Eric

And there is no need to worry about parts being expensive as these cars are plentiful in the U-Pull-It junkyards now.

I wish you were closer. My son just totaled my 300D and I'm looking for a replacement.

You might catch a good deal on shipping if you were willing to wait a week or so to get it. Shop around and see what you can find, I am!

I would also trade one of these for a good running 92 or very early 93 5.0 R129 or W124 M119 and trans. I would trade both of these cars for two good running 92 or very early 93 5.0 R129 or W124 M119s with trans. I'd love to eventually upgrade from my present 4.2s. Since this car sale is motivated by a need to get code enforcement off of my back, This trade would help me reduce my number of cars by replacing them with stuff that I can stash in the garage for now.
Regards, Eric

Oh man, you are hitting us on our two weakest points.

They both passed their most recent smog tests but with little wiggle room. Hydrocarbons are close to the limit on both cars, which is very common for these CIS-E cars. The 88 has only been driven no more than 3,000 miles since it passed, the 89 has gone about 20,000 miles but it has also received a replacement ECU in that time that really seems to have helped it to run even better than it already was, much like what happened to member "JohnM" 's 300E when he replaced it's ECU. I'll tell you what though, if you give me my asking price, I'll include a new, current smog certificate with each car cause I'm confident they'll squeak by. Keep in mind that Cali smog tests are tougher to pass than most anywhere else. Those of you in the other states shouldn't have any problem.

Over the years they have become low on freon. Since these are R12 cars, I bought the stuff to "convert" them over to R134a but fellow board member "GSXR" talked me out of doing it. He said the compressors would only last about a year if I did the "conversion". He said there is a proper way to do it but a kit from a McParts store is not the proper way. Since I have other cars with working air conditioners I simply chose to only drive these two cars on days when air cond. is not needed. (I think most of us here fall into that same category in that we have more than one car.)

These cars really need to become someone's winter cars but all of the folks who should be grabbing them for that purpose keep complaining that I'm too far away. But the only way those folks are gonna get any rust free cars is to do a little traveling.
Regards, Eric

Well, while you are offering a great deal, I am in need of a car with working A/C - because my 240D A/C is not working.

Thanks,
Eric
