The only 500Es that have been there ran a 14.7 best on a worse DA day and the other one ran a 13.8 best on a much better DA day. That little six has sure earned my respect. Here's a video of him spanking my modded 400E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa5h4fq2Jkg I sure wouldn't mind having one. Board member Jay Rash has one and he loves it.

Since you are good at modding cars maybe you should chew them way down on that Naples C43 since they aren't going to get much for it now anyway and then you should do a 5.5 swap with it. Wouldn't that be something? It already has great cosmetics, a 5.5 would complete that car! You'd have a car capable of spanking much more expensive iron. And there are always hardcore folks around here who will pay a decent price for it if you ever sold it. It's a win win!
Regards, Eric

WOW! That's pretty good! Still, I'm not too fond of the M104 and their head gasket issues. I got an E320 I'm dumping for the same reason. Yeah, the 500E is fast! I got my 500E to do 13.7 in the quarter.

As for the C43.... NO Way... First off, the owner yelled at me for calling him out on the engine and said,, "it's the same damn thing".... It's not.... He's supposed to be the "Expert" too. Here is a link to their website...

http://www.********fl.com/

After the experience of loosing my $145 airplane ticket and being yelled at,, I'm going to report the hell out of this company.

Yeah, that is a real pain, plus the hours you have in it. I've driven a few times several hours to look at cars (one, a pretty Saab 99 in orange - 'great condition' and 'no rust' turned out to have rust thru in the floor boards covered with new mats and 'you can't take it for a test drive because it's not insured'...I had to walk away before I was the one who started yelling).

Anyway, 300Evil, how did you figure out the engine had been replaced? did you run the block numbers or did you see something? Nice catch either way; not many people would catch that, which I imagine the dealer is well aware of.

Yeah, Buyer Beware!!! It's amazing how many slimy dealers there are out there.

This thread will explain how I found the problem... M113 Motor Exterior Differences....

To sum it up, the engine is an M113.940 not the M113.944 that the car originally came with. I looked it up in the EPC.

We got a place down there and I was going to do some older Merc car searching this December. I'll remember to skip this dump.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Once the issue is addressed its a great engine. I'd be all over the red E320 wagon for sale if the head gasket was done.

WOW! I can't freakin believe how hard it is to find and buy a good car! I have CASH! No financing or any of that junk.

So I found an 05 C55 AMG in Portland. I call them and they rave about the car, "It's the best thing!!" Blah, blah blah. So I tell them I want to have a friend in Portland come and test drive it. They tell me it's at the Mercedes dealership getting the fog lights replaced. So I call a couple days later and it's still getting "the fog lights replaced."

I have my friend call and they told him the car was backed into by a truck! They even admitted lying about the fog lights to cover up the real issue.

Jesus! These dealerships I run into are real slimeballs.

On top of all that.... I tried calling this one guy with a C32 AMG. I call, he says, "Yeah! the car is still available!, I'll call you back in 30 minutes!" No call back.....

Well, to make a long story short, I called his ass 4 times with the exact same answer every time and no call back! WTF!!! If he doesn't want to sell it or he has a buyer, that's fine but quit pulling my chain.

I've never ran into so many jokers at once in my life. Unreal!

Hopefully I'll find the right deal soon. I thought buying a new car would be fun, I guess not....

I have a friend with a clean black 98 C43 AMG, and is thinking about selling it.

Its 197 obsidian black, with the black/grey two tone interior.

125k miles on the car. Transmission was also replaced with a unit out of a W210 E55, and the car is rock solid.

If your interested, I can get you his contact information.

Edit: heres a pic of the car.

Yes, please send me his contact info.
I'm supposed to call on this C55 tomorrow but if that falls through..... This is the color and interior I am looking for in a C43. Besides the price of the C55 is a little more than I really wanted to spend right now.
Thanks!
Adam

Plus a 2005 M.Y. car still has too much depreciation left in it.
