Probably the euro 84 500SEL. I wonder if it has the fluid suspension...

Actually, a better bet might be the euro 380SEL, its $600 price tag leaves more funds for repairs along the way, and it's not the weezy US 3.8.

Probably the 190D, so I could give it to my brother who has been looking for one for a while. He probably wouldn't be happy with the beater 190D after his beater 300D though haha

$1,000 and under cars are invitations to bring an other wise nice car back from being crushed. Usually there is a considerable amount of deferred (i.e. neglected) maintenance that needs to be done. This isn't to say that the car doesn't merit it. Many times it does! I know... I bought my most recent acquisition for $1,000. The 240D Manual 4 spd needed about $1,500 of parts plus replacement tires. After all of this work it runs well and will be a ride that I can depend on for a long time. If the $1,000 and under car is not all rusted out, then it is worth rescuing. If it is rusted out, it is a parts car and over priced at $1,000.

Now I've got a china blue 240D 4 spd with a straight pipe (no resinator or muffler). For a 240D it's pretty zippy. It sounds throaty too.

The Palm Beach TE. I'd knock it down $100 and then arrange for a local indy to go over it and spend up to $500 to make it road worthy. Is that cheating?
