AMG W126 cars on CL - no afil.

Out of these AMG W126s, which one would you pick? There's a 500se AMG in Tampa (The 126th W126 made), a kitted signalrot red one in Atlanta, and two low-mileage ones in Chicago. The black one is stunning but needs Euro headlamps.

Assuming it was in good condition I would go for the 79 just because it is so uncommon.

Interesting Dilemma

Methinks even Solomon would have a tough choice here. Documented pedigree / maint history plays a big part in such a decision. Given the price ranges, as nice as the black one's made up... that 380's price makes it tough, even if engine by AMG.

Price-per-pound, miles notwithstanding... I'd want to negotiate the red one into the sunset

The black one seems too good to be true, soemthing just doesn't seem right with it. Maybe it is the bundt in the trunk as a spare

1st one (white euro) is not an AMG; it's been analyzed on BenzWorld.

2nd one (red one) has been for sale FOREVER; it has significant issues.

3rd one (black one) is F'N FANTASTIC; shame it's a 380 but it's still cool as hell.

4th one (gold one) is a w126 with wheels and a body kit; no AMG suspension which means prob no engine work either.

If I had to buy one, it'd be the pristine low-mileage black one (condition is everything!), then I'd hope the chain jumps and I'd get to replace that crappy US lump with a euro 560 motor.

The black one is nice, its just a shame its all show, why couldn't it be a 500!

If I got that car I would have to look into re powering it.

If I were in the market, I would go for the red one. That shop is Matt Cama's. He's very, very good at benz work. He will describe the car accurately and fairly.

I wonder why the red AMG has a rust pile in the engine bay, bottom left corner of this picture. The seats and steering wheel look dirty & there are cig butts in the spare tire well. It would be interesting to get the service history of that one, it could be a solid driver if it runs well. I often see <$1k 560SEL's for sale that would be good for parts if the engine or transmission grenades.

I'll be watching the eBay auction of the 380SEL in Chicago.

gotta agree with POS. the 380 is pure sexual chocolate. it wouldn't be hard to convert it to a black interior, either, since black interiors had grey headliners. black on black, nikka tint the schnitz out of the windows, slam it as low as she goes, and throw on some euro headlighs, and you're gold for less than a few g's. are you guys with me on this????

Some tough decisions are just worth it! All of these are cool in their own right. The white one is sold. I believe the fellow from Blue Ridge MB owns it now (at least thats what his signature says )

I have a friend with an AMG tuned 380 and although its a 380, how cool is that?! I mean those have to be pretty rare if the black one has engine mods. I bet you could keep up nicely with a 560.

BUY them all for less cost than a Prius.

Jono from Blue Ridge MB also personally knows about the red one; I once looked at buying that red one about a year ago, and Jono knew everything about it. Not much good.

The 380SEL in Chicago is bidding for a little over $6k right now with 1.5 days left, it should end up somewhere over $10k. Maybe the reserve won't be met as it doesn't have a proper engine

The 380sel ended at a surprise $7.1k, sold to a buyer with 0 feedback. I canceled my auction snipe bid since it's sight unseen & seemed a little fishy. Too bad...
